Sorry if there is already a ruck thread. I have just realised (I may be slow on the uptake) this could be a really tough one to get right this year.

With Cox being a forward option and Sandi being injured there are no automatic choices, other than Leunberger who appears to be in most teams at the minute.

I have had Goldstein in R1 all year with Cox in the forwards and Luey backing him up.

I now think Goldy could be very risky. Problem is, no obvious replacements stick out.

Jacobs and McEvoy could be good value and may have break out years. Maric is a solid option but he had such a good year last year, he may be a tad overpriced in a year when value is paramount.

My latest crazy thought is to use J Redden in ruck, and use the extra cash elsewhere whilst I see who is the number one ruck for this year. Redden could average 80 and make some cash early with Port's reasonable early draw.

Thoughts?

Simple solution could be to just put Cox in the rucks. Chances of picking a more consistent premium in your forward line could be greater than in the Rucks.

In saying all that, this thread is only here because Goldy had a poor game Friday night and in reality probably means nothing.

Have my eye on Bellchambers also - is dependant on what role Ryder is playing this year though, assuming Hille is backup..

i was thinking Griffin as a good R1 pick with Luen as R2 and Cox in forwards. if Griffin fumbles in the first few rounds, Cox into rucks and grab one of Stevie J/Buddy/Pav after price drops/injury and suspension returns

I'm really tempted to go against the grain and just start with Cox & Maric in the ruck and be done with it

Don't touch any Port rucks with a 10 foot clown pole. Redden, Lobbe and Renouf are all pretty much even in the pecking order right now. Any one of them could be the #1 ruck on any given week.

Havn't Lobbe and Renouf been injured in teh pre-season. I also thought I heard Hinkley talking Redden up in the week but I may be wrong.

Have had Rowe as my R4 with Cox in the forward line - not really expecting Rowe to get many games this year. After yesterday I am even more happy with this strategy. Burger R2. Was going to have Sandi R1 but will need to rethink who will replace him over the NAB Cup. Also will pick R3 over the NAB cup - Gorringe, Majak most likely atm.

Dont think rucks are that much of a headache. Only really a few choices really for R1, 99% of people will have burger R2, and only a few choices for R3 and R4. Now I have said that... it will become a major headache where I will leak points and waste trades all year long :p

Yes, but both should be ready for Round 1. Renouf missed a fair bit of the pre-season which will slow him down, but Lobbe only got injured in early February, so his preparation shouldn't be affected too much.

That was second in command Alan Richardson. He also talked Andrew Moore up, but I wouldn't call him a lock in our best 22 either.

Goldy is a no go zone. the north board and other dt website do not recommend him, and nor do I after watching him on the weekend.

What I did is I downgraded Murphy to Ball/Miles (-10~25 points). Upgraded Mckevoy to Maric (+5~15 points) and upgraded a fwd rookie to Varcoe (+15~30 points). Fwd rookies are unreliable from what we have seen, so I wanted some JS and someone who wont dish out random 40s (I hope).

Cox is in my Fwd line, not really keen on anyone in the ruck other than Maric/Cox.

This also gave an extra 30k so if something goes wrong in round 1 or 2, I have some cash to help me out, rather than having nothing and being forced to downgrade.

Will be lucky to play a game or 2

Uniquely dangerous.

He has 3 more games before round 1 where if he scores something decent everyone will be back jumping on board wont take much. Also it might be all he needs hes a huge confidence player been down last year even though he still avg 85 without Hmac.

Dont think hes had any real problems over PS and he might just need that one moment or game to switch it all around again.

You dont forget how to play footy over one PS

I would say 1 season and 2 pre-seasons, his efforts in 2012 were nothing to write home about.

It's like 2011 is becoming a distant memory for Goldstein, either that or NM have changed their game plan (I honestly don't see it though).

for a terrible year 85 without Hmac aint bad and a 6 point gain on his price
