Very very very wishful thinking.

A top 10 KPP of 3 years ago now worth pick 60.
A top 5 midfielder of 3 years ago now worth a fringe 25er at the Crows.

Yep, wishful thinking us a good call. However, the Gold Coast will have to reduce their salary cap. If we increase Gorringe salary and have him nominate us as the club if his choice, pick 60 may get the deal done. It's not like he is their number 1 ruck-man.

Polec hasn't developed, he isn't pick 5 anymore. Martin would be a first 22 player fir Brisbane. I feel this exchange of player is fair.

List Management:

Delist/Retire
Johncock Callinan Porplyzia Tambling

Trade:
Otten and Round 3 pick for Watts
Vince and round 4 pick for Polec

Free Agent sign: Eddie Betts
Promote: Rory Laird

Retain: Hartigan Kloasen Osbourn
Cut: McIntyre Orval Dowdell

Draft: Outside Midfielder (Zac Bates), Young Bean Pole

Leaves us with: Graham Martin Jaensch Thompson and Joyce to delist the following year.

Orval had his first game on the weekend after a very serious injury, I think he tore his hamstring. Will be interesting to see what he does for the rest of the year

Fair call.

Look forward to more video game suggestions....

Maybe we could get Gaz too if we throw in Tambling?

Yeah, you're spot on.

Your example is very similar to mine.

One is the best player from the past 15 years, the others have played a handful of games over the past 3 years. Yep, good call.

I think we need to get very agressive on this front. Right now I would hope we are already knee deep in discussions on multiple fronts.
Areas I want us to be exploring;
Experienced players at clubs going nowhere (i.e. from Melbourne or St Kilda) that may fit a need ie Jones as inside mid or Dal Santo etc...
Highly talented players currently not performing and in need of a change - ie Watts, Sam Day, Tapscott etc...
Players who may get squeezed out by other moves ie If Franklin moves to GWS, is there a young forward that may be surplus to requirement

For mine Gorringe would cost somewhere between picks 25-40, or one of our many fringe 22 players who interest Gold Coast.

Vince is an interesting one, he's the kind of player I could see Hawthorn or even Geelong looking at and I think he's probably worth a bit more than what some here have been speculating. Unsure whether he'll want to go anywhere though, I think he's enjoying life in Adelaide too much.

Polec and Gorringe would be 2 I'd definitely be looking at getting back to Adelaide.

I don't mind Gumbleton, although his injury history worries me and I also feel that he'd be too similar to Jenkins and would end up in a similar position to which he's in at Essendon. He's one I wouldn't be paying a terribly high price for.

Watts is also worth inquiring about, I'm not sure he has what it takes to be key forward, but I think he could be a pretty handy 3rd tall defender and perhaps provide us with that running defender that we've perhaps lacked.

Wouldn't be against making a big play for Betts through Free Agency, will be tough to shift, but I think its clear we need a genuine A-grade small forward, something we simply don't have at the moment.

Don't really see too many viable options though through Free-Agency and I don't want to see us grab someone for the simple fact that we can.

Draft: Outside Midfielder (Zac Bates), Key Position Defender (Mature age player??)
Any idea how Bates went in the under 18's game the other day?

Others are real possibility ....Graham on 2 year contract
I hope we pay him off for his second year and let him walk. If he isn't good enough to come in when our incumbent ruckman is in career-worst form, then why do we have him at all?

A Hannath or Currie type would have been a hell of a lot more useful to us.

Personally I think we should retire Johncock later this year and delist Callinan, Tambling, Joyce, McIntyre, Orval, Dowdell then trade Vince for Gumbleton, our third rounder for Polec and whatever we can cobble together for Gorringe. Promote Laird, leave Hartigan on the rookie list and try and be creative with late selections.

Hes playing as well in the SANFL as Hannath and Currie were last year.
His AFL stats arent that bad either. Close to Kurt Tippett levels actually. (Legit do the comparison)
You dont just sit Jacobs after 1 bad day. His 2 weeks prior were very good and he was good again yesterday. For mine in the past months hes had 3 good and 1 stinker. That aint bad

Isn't it a bit early to delist Dowdell? He doesn't take up a spot on the rookie list (I think?) and they probably need to give the alternative talent at least 3 years to show something. He did have 38 hitouts on the weekend, and seems to have gotten a spot in Glenelg's team for the time being.

If we needed a mature age KPD, Joel Tippett would probably be as good as anyone else running around in the state leagues, though he offers nothing offensively. Emmanuel Irra from South has potential, but he seems stuck in the reserves. Knightmare from the draft boards seems to rate him, and he generally knows his stuff. I'm not sure if we have enough to offer for Watts to outbid other teams. I'm sure someone would be willing to offer something more than a third rounder and spud for someone who is potentially a decent player, even if he has been horrifically disappointing.

It would be great to get Gorringe or Polec, but GC seem reluctant to trade their high draft picks for late-ish picks. If we could get him for a third-rounder it would be a steal. As for Polec, who knows what could happen or what Brisbane would accept for him. He's talented, but there's a reason he's been unable to break into the Lions.

I think injury has played a big part in that. Can't string enough games together to get on the park and show his wares. Strong rumour is that he's homesick, which has only been exacerbated by his ongoing injury concerns. Pretty sure he has an ankle injury at the moment.

Gorringe looks impressive and has some tools. Similar situation to Sauce. Let's hope the filth are too busy imploding to show any interest in him!

I must admit I haven't seen enough of this guy to have an opinion and to be frank he is playing the same role about 4 others are with the Saints so it is hard to see him stand out...but Milera from the Saints.

Probably swap fringe players if it came down to it, as I said though, haven't seen enough to have a plus or minus on him

I'd be having a huge crack at Frawley... Regarded as a very good KPD and gets no help at all from a midfield that allows opponents to stroll inside 50 unchecked.

He'll get a first round pick for him.

Definitely the right person but we'd probably have to give up Crouch to get him under the circumstances

Thanks Triggy

I would like to see us take a big of a risk in the draft with our great selections. I was thinking maybe Garlett or Willie Rioli. We need some x factor in the forward line like a Rioli, Jeff Farmer etc. Some pace and true opportunistic forward
pocket player.
What other Rioli type picks is there?

There's a reason why Emmanuel Irra is stuck in the reserves for South.

With free agency and the worry that the strong teams are going to get stronger, the weak teams weaker, could they add a bylaw that prevents players moving from a Bottom 8 club to a Top 8 club?

Players can still move from Top 8 to Top 8, or Top 8 to Bottom 8, or Bottom 8 to Bottom 8 but it just stops the "rats fleeing a sinking ship" situation that Melbourne are going through at the moment.

Yes, I know it is technically Bottom 10 but you get the point.

That would kind of take the free out of free agency
