Some points of interest:

  • Ryobi Cup is now the Matador BBQ's One Day Cup and will be played from the 4th to the 26th of October. Games to be played in Brisbane and Sydney, with the Final at the SCG. Each team to play 7 prelim matches (one more than last year). Tasmania and WA won't start playing until the 12th, presumably due to the Champions League.
  • ODI series against South Africa to be played from the 14th to the 23rd of November - 2 games in Perth, one in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney
  • India tests run from the 4th of December to the New Years test. First two tests are back to back, with a gap to allow the Big Bash to start in the week before Christmas
  • Big Bash has the same amount of games, but in a week shorter period.
  • Tri series between Australia, England and India to follow the tests. Each team plays each other twice, with a final in Perth.
  • Shield runs either side of the Big Bash, beginning once the Domestic ODI finishes.
  • World Cup starts February.

Really don't see why Adelaide couldn't keep the Australia day game. Other than that, looks like it's going to be a big summer of cricket. Can't wait.

Tasmania get bent over. 4 international games. Including the might of Zimbabwe vs Ireland, Sri Lanka vs Scotland and Australia vs Scotland during the WC.

Sad news that Adelaide have lost the Australia Day game, I don't really get that.

Great to see they have jammed the Big Bash in a little bit so we get one less week of it, seems to drag on too long and takes up valuable time for more important stuff.

Good to see their will be quite a few Shield games being played before the first test.

In short, Cricket NSW wanted it, and got it.

Well, well, well. Tasmania have been screwed over hard. 84 days of International cricket we get 4. 248 days of domestic cricket and we get 20.

Also why take the Australia day game from Adelaide? Also still two months of Shieldless cricket (Same as last year IIRC) even thought the BBL is a week shorter.

I suspect that they may be paying the price for the horrendously attended test against Sri Lanka two summers ago.

Probably should be an additional ODI or two down there though.

Possibly so, but what do you expect when you charge nigh on $50 to sit on the hill to watch Sri Lanka. Even then in a WC we get 1 day of cricket between test playing nations, with a redeveloped ground. I did forget the BBL though, so we get 24 domestic days, not 20.

As if Adelaide lost the Australia Day game. Just why?

Also I understand we are trying to prepare for the World Cup so I don't mind but I would have rathered a two test series against a smaller nation (Sri Lanka or New Zealand) than an ODI series, although at least its against South Africa.

Me too, but honestly I want us to play NZ all the time :P

I know they need the warm-up but it really does feel too short form heavy, a short test series like you suggested would have balanced it out nicely I think. But very excited as always regardless.

Hi folks,

Was hoping for some seating info for the Boxing Day test from those that have attended before. There are many seating options (platinum, gold, silver etc etc) however I can't find any info on what you actually get for your money. Ie a platinum ticket for day 1 is $175 pre release, but what is the advantage you get for buying a platinum ticket? Is it just a seat in an area that's supposed to be the best viewing? Is it worth it?
I'm also considering an Aussie army seat... Although they are only $35.
