tigs2010 Jarrod Pickett for WA. 21 disposals, three goals, five clearances and seven inside-50s.
Wow he was a standout.. super quick took the game on...

Sorry guys not heading to Geelong today. Will be heading down for the double header at the end of the month.
Yeah will head down to that for sure..

Spoke yesterday of having a more aggressive trading/delisting plan in mind and I thought I'd throw it up and see how you guys like it.

Depth Chart End of 2014
Rucks: Maric Hampson
KPF: Riewoldt Griffiths McBean Elton
KPD: Rance Chaplin Astbury Grimes
Forwards: McDonough S.Edwards Knights Lloyd
Defenders: Batchelor Petterd Dea Morris McIntosh
Midfielders: Cotchin Deledio Martin Vlastuin Ellis Conca Miles(r) Lennon Foley Thomas(r) O'Hanlon Gordon Arnot Helbig

Assuming that we finish bottom 6 and have picks 6, 26, 44, 62, 80, 98 & 116 lets get aggressive at the trade table and try and achieve the following:

Delisted:
Senior List: Newman(retired) A.Edwards(retired) King(retired)
Rookie List: Stephenson Banfield Williams Darrou Miles(upgraded)
Trade Table:
Jackson & 26 for Shiel Giants need experience we need youth and hardness.
Vickery & 6 for Saints picks 2 & 22 Saints get a long term replacement for Riewoldt and maintain a top 10 pick.
Houli for Dogs pick 25. Murphy getting on Dogs need a ready to go HBF with run and carry.
Grigg for Dees pick 24. Dees have Cross for another year Grigg provides them with another experienced midfielder
Batchelor for Essendon pick 29.

Draft Picks: 2, 22, 24, 25, 29, 43 & 61
2. Sam Durdin 197cm 89kg KPD West Adelaide
Knightmares Profile: Durdin is the better of the key defenders available this year. He’s got the versatility to play forward and through the ruck when required but he’s to this point played his best footy down back. He’s a good mover for a key position player with his athleticism and mobility at his height. He’s also one of the best users of the footy for a key position player you’ll find with his footskills particularly excellent. He’s also got a nice balance between ability to take the mark overhead but then the co-ordination below the knees and at ground level to compliment it and make him a real threat. Excellent reader of the play and reads the flight of the ball as well as any.
My Reasoning: Durdin gives us a KPD replacement for Chaplin down the track. Give him a couple of years to develop in the VFL and he'd be an instant upgrade for us.

22. Christian Petracca 186cm 92kg Mid/Fwd Eastern Ranges
Knightmares Profile: Strong unit who is a real physically imposing marking presence up forward. Despite his limited height for his type he plays like a real key position player and just outbodies anyone in the TAC and also outmarks them thanks not only to that extra size on his frame but also his superior marking ability and ability to read the drop of the ball. At this level he hits the scoreboard like few others can with the way he takes over games and is just a manchild. The next step in his development is showing that he can push into the midfield. He’s from a basketball background and he seems to have relatively clean and quick hands at ground level as well as a very big body so that potential may be there for him to develop an inside game and if he can and add that to his already exceptionally handy ability to go forward, take a mark and kick a goal then he can become a big weapon for a team. He’ll just need to drop his skinfolders and build his endurance first if he wants to take that step into the midfield.
My Reasoning: Despite all the hype I have a feeling that he may still be available this late in the draft as his tweener height may make it hard for clubs to commit to him with an early pick, especially if there are doubts that his ability to play midfield at U/18 level will carry over to the AFL.

24. Touk Miller 177cm 80kg Midfielder Calder Cannons
Knightmares Profile: Miller is a relatively short but powerful midfielder who provides some real grunt around the contest. He’ll win the hard ball, outbody guys, get in and under and extract by hand and reads the ruck taps very well. He also has the ability to burst out of the contest with the explosive pace he has. He’s a strong tackler and his tackles stick. He’s proven at times that he can push forward and hit the scoreboard. By foot he’s improving but still needs to become more consistent.
My Reasoning: After moving Foley on we need another hard quick inside midfielder. Miller gives us that and as Vic Metro captain brings leadership with him.

25. Kyle Langford 190cm 73kg Fwd/Mid Northern Knights
Knightmares Profile: Langford is a very damaging tall forward flanker who is playing some really exciting footy and doesn’t need a whole lot of the footy to do his damage. Langford has a light body but some real pace to him, a willingness to take on the game, a damaging kick and strong overhead marking ability making him a big threat up forward. Langford has a late year birthday and his rate of development you’d think he has lots of physical and footballing growth left.
My Reasoning: We all know that we need some skill and pace added to the side and Langford offers both as mentioned above. Not someone that will come in and play from round 1 but with some development could become a very good weapon.

29. Jayden Laverde 189cm 82kg Utility Western Jets
Knightmares Profile: Laverde is a versatile type with excellent athleticism and pace at his height. He enjoys breaking the lines and taking on the game with ball in hand. He’s a strong mark overhead whether that be playing behind the play as an intercept mark or in front of the ball leading up at the footy. He’s a good user of the footy and with ball in hand can create some more time for himself but decision making can let him down at times.
My Reasoning: Like Langford above Laverde offers us skill and pace.

43. Billy Evans 189cm 87kg Midfielder Bendigo Pioneers
Knightmares Profile: Evans is a tall, strong bodied midfielder and a big improver this season really elevating his game and is this year winning more of the ball more often and providing greater scoreboard impact which is really pleasing. Evans through the midfield is a stoppage specialist and a strong contested ball winner with and strong tackling game. Evans also has the ability to play up forward and can take a mark on the lead and provide some real scoreboard impact.
My Reasoning: With the loss of Jackson I want to add some midfield grunt to allow the likes of Cotchin to spend a bit more time outside.

61. Anthony Miles 179cm 78kg Midfielder Richmond Rookie Upgrade
My Reasoning: Pretty simple the kids first half of the VFL season has been outstanding and deserves a senior list spot.

Rookies
I'd re-rookie Thomas as a mature back up for any LTI. Outside that I'd go with with best 5 kids remaining in the draft pool. Ideally I'd take 1 ruckman a couple of KPPs and then a couple of X factor types who need developing.

Depth Chart Heading Into 2015
Rucks: Maric Hampson rookie ruck
KPF: Riewoldt Griffiths McBean Elton rookie
KPD: Rance Chaplin Astbury Grimes Durdin rookie
Forwards: McDonough S.Edwards Knights Lloyd Petracca Langford rookie
Defenders: Batchelor Petterd Dea Houli Morris McIntosh Laverde rookie
Midfielders: Cotchin Deledio Martin Vlastuin Shiel Ellis Conca Miles Lennon Miller Thomas(r) Grigg O'Hanlon Gordon Arnot Helbig Evans

Note: Before everyone rips into me about this let me say from the get go I have no doubt that this will never happen. Just putting forward what I'd like to do if we wanted to go down an aggressive path at the end of the year. Think of it being similar to what the Pies have done in recent years, traded out players that were seen as keys for the future, but what they have done is got the Pies top end draft picks to refresh their list very quickly without having to drop away. We have dropped away so we have a bit of a free licence IMO to go out and trade under performing players who have some currency at the trade table. They might not get us a heap of picks in the first round but some smart aggressive trading might see us be in position to pick the eyes out of the top 30 in the draft.

The trades here are a lot better than the ones you put forward yesterday... I really hope we go aggressive this year with trading .. we all know we love to hold onto players till they are worth nothing..

Looking like no chance of getting Petracca at pick 22. But happy take him with our first pick the way he is going, can't wait to see how he test at draft camp.

Hate when you spend time writing up something like that and then a kid comes out and puts in a BOG performance in a 7 goal loss.

Good read, but those are some very optimistic trades IMO. I'd be over the moon with those results ha
As I said I know there is no hope of that happening, but the premise remains the same for my POV, go hard at the trade table and offer up what value we do have to try and get improved position at the draft

Trading Maric would make Hampson our number 1 ruck and this board would go into instant meltdown if that happened. Deledio is our second best midfielder and currently playing with an injury. While I wouldn't necessarily be against trading them it would have to be a very good deal heavily in our favour to do it.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see Vickery and Griffith sharing ruck duties very soon(2015) . Meaning Ivan's value will decline significantly . Whilst I think we might see lids spend greater time behind the ball also seeing a decline in his value . Both would net us first round picks or in Ivan's case very early second ATM , as such I'd take it .

liking the vickery to saints trade actually. win win for both team's I'd say, but doubt they'd go for it. they've got hickey and longer. tom lee who they expect to come on further. then shored up their back line with bruce and delaney. so really all I can see them chasing is another experienced defender or someone like batchelor to replace fisher.

edit: how about elton and our first pick for their first and second?
then see what we can get for vickery from someone such as dogs. who could see more value in him than say carlton.

edit: also wouldn't be trading out houli and grigg at this stage (unpopular I know) but we are yet to have kids ready to permanently take their spots.

Deledio is cornerstone player. He is a Richmond player, he brings supporters.

I would like to see Vickery as a ruck type of player but he just doesn't seem hard enough. His movement in stoppages (e.g. sidesteps out of a contest) is exquisite but he lacks consistency in this area and his aggression and drive is worrying. He can go from average to elite, yet he isn't utilizing his talents.

Having a chat to Brett Anderson on twitter and he reckons Petracca could go top 5 or anywhere between 10-25 as he is such a polarising player.

Good old painter (Wallace), had him going in the top 5 in his rolling draft. His stocks are rising fast.

There is no chance the saints will do that trade. If anything they want more selections not less. Also think the Houli/Grigg trades are so fanciful, that I don't know why RT bothered.

He also wouldn't go past the hawks picks, as they saw first hand how good he was when he trained with them.

Because I was bored this morning. ;)
