The fact that we've taken 3 guys who look like they may require a longer development time is interesting. I wonder if that was a deliberate strategy, knowing we selected a bunch of guys last year who turned out to be fairly "ready to go" and also have recruited 3 guys this off season who are aged 23 to 25. At this low in the draft, skinny but talented might be better for our list than physically mature blokes with less footy ability.
Same thing crossed my mind. Stretches out our "maturity profile" a little, while also potentially aiming for higher risk/reward.

I'll be very surprised if any of the draftees get a senior game next year, which is a remarkable contrast to this year (and somewhat of a relief/indication that our list is coming togetger).

Watt's is someone that didn't really impress me when ever I had seen him. He has some nice traits but I'm not sure he will ever fill out enough to become a KPD and I don't see where he fits in.Very much a project player. Personally would have preferred Reece McKenzie here. Will be somewhat of a steal at pick 77.

McGrath. Another small guy and has had some injury concerns, but he has some bloody impressive qualities. He'll take a couple of years and he'll have some pretty good competition for a spot in his role but as mentioned he is certainly a value pick here.

McGuinness I probably rate higher than the others we picked up(including Dawson, Andrews and Clayton. Feel he will play some footy next year in the senior side. I'm pretty stoke to be adding him to the list at pick 81. I thought he would have gone in the 3rd round.

I'm quietly happy about this bunch. I don't think any of them will be stars but I think they'll become role players. Anything above that and it's a bonus considering where they were all taken.

Have we not already committed for him to the rookie draft?

Not committed. We have six players that we can prelist directly on to our rookie list if we want to. We don't have to.

AFL sent the draft up to the Gold Coast to show of in a developing market and get some publicity, with the tragic events around Phillip Hughes 99% of the population didn't give a rats arse about the AFL draft. Once again 2014 has turned into a PR nightmare for the AFL, the once well oiled publicity machine that didn't miss a beat or chance to push itself has again broken down

So the AFL should have known to plan around what I consider to be the most tragic sporting death in our nations history.....please

I thought he was pretty good. Wasn't he rated second round early in the year? Anyone with more knowledge like to tell me why he fell off
To be fair, so was Hammelmann..

Actually, after his 2014 effort...wouldn't even bother with his guesswork

Not many correct predictions after the top 8 which are usually settled well before the draft :footy:

Won't be hiring him to look after my share portfolio anytime soon o_O

For the above. Is that him not picking that player in the top 30 at all or just getting the position wrong?

Cause I feel like I only take his analysis about 1/10 as serious as a Quigley or Knightmare mock draft.

May not bode well for Hammelmann though.

I can't see how any of the guys we've drafted or got via trade would affect the rookie selection of Hammelmann. All the guys we've picked up should play quite different roles. I would like to see another developing key forward on the rookie list. I think we will likely Rookie Hammelman but it would probably come down to if we prefer him over someone like Keitel or other another Key forward.
