I was more thinking of the fact that you would need pick 1 AND 2![]()
But you can take more than one person in the PSD assuming all the other clubs pass on them right?
That quote from Finnis would suggest to me that we could do something like this (I'm making up numbers here but you get the idea):
JOR - Market worth $300k/year over 3 years but the Saints offer $450k/year over 3 years. GWS wont match it and JOR goes into the PSD and we get him.
Jaksch - Same deal here except instead of just GWS not matching all other teams don't match and we get him with pick 19 in the PSD.
For $900k ($450k above the market price for each player) we just bought players taken at pick 2 and 12 in the national draft. On top of that, we probably wouldn't have used that cap space any way and I think new equlisation and TPP rules include the AFL helping us pay for some of it.
I'm not expert on any of this so am I missing some obvious reason why this couldn't happen?
