not really related but Holmes' brother just caught a TD in the NFL that gives his 0-4 team (Raiders) the lead in the 4th quarter (against a very strong team)

hopefully we get this clutchnes outta our own holmes in 2015 and beyond

we've had a pretty good history trading with sydney. no need to start shafting them now, especially over a player like membrey. trade will get done in good faith IMO, which will be a really late pick just to get it done or a pick upgrade
So youve forgiven them for Plugger & Hall??

Remind me what we got for both?
Dont remember off the top of my head .
But when it comes to Plugger it wouldnt have mattered what they gave us.

Edit....
think we used our picks at the time and got Nugent fro Hawks??
and picked up Aussie Jones, Tony Brown & Joel Smith.
They werent all picked up with the Lockett pick. But thats the players we got after he left. ( i think)
Nugent no good. Smith left. Brown handy at best. Aussie very bloody good.
But give me Plugger over Aussie anyday.

I recall there were financial reasons behind it and they were more reasonable than the Vic clubs

For what it's worth Brett Anderson doesn't know of saints/dees deal

Plugger needed the cash pure and simple. Also he didn't like the media attention in Melbourne...

I think Barry Hall was the same re media attention. Ironic really considering his role at Fox Footy...

That would make sense. We were struggling a bit finacially back then ( some things dont change do they :p ).

Got a story about Plugger leaving. I remember going to his last game for us at Waverly . Against the Pies ( i think? )
There were rumours he might leave but the Club was publicly saying he was staying. And where me and my mate sat on that day there was actually a few people near us wearing "who gives a bugger. Weve got Plugger T-Shirts"
Anyway the team runs through the banner , crowd cheers, blah blah the usual stuff. Im looking at the footy record at my mate says. " well it looks like Pluggers definately leaving". I say why. He says take a look.
I look up and the team is doing a warm up jog as a tight knit unit. Then theres the big fella about 20 mts across from the rest of the team jogging by himself.
Not lagging behind cos he carried a few xtra kgs:D. But just running separately from the group. I told myself that this probably didnt mean anything. But deep down in my gut i knew he was going to leave.
Young supporters dont realize how important he was for the Saints faithful back then.
It wasnt like nowdays with priority picks and free agency compensation. Back then if you lost your best player it was just plain heartbreaking.
Took me a long long long time to forgive him. Probably only after he came back to the club for the hall of fame thingy.

I agree.

Terrible trade. Hope not true.

Few guys have text me that is what Melbourne are pushing, they have a reasonable strike rate.
