Time for bed, I'll just post this one then nothing more until something happens.

Not earth shattering but the probable outcome is we don't get Petracca because we will trade our number one pick for two in the top 10 in the likely event that GWS don't trade the big two.

Like outcome is 4 and 7 from GWS now that the Dogs have pissed them off but don't rule out a swap of two and three for one with Melbourne.

This leads me to believe that we are one of the clubs who doesn't rate Petracca as a top three pick.

Being philosophical I'd like one of the big boys in Paddy or TMP if we don't get The Raging Bull.

As they say in the classics "don't shoot the messenger"!!!

So if we offer Garry Ablett 2million a year, he goes iwanit iwanit iwanit.
But a contract is a contract and GC would be within their rights to say pull your head in.
Boyd no different.

Its all getting silly. GWS can afford to let WB keep Griffin, they aren't desperate for anything ( including our number 1 pick ). You see a new Iphone and think "it would be nice to have that" that's what its like for GWS. They've had tonnes of early picks.

Its only mugs like us line up and say "we need to have that ".

my conclusion from reading posts around the various forums.. Sauce? Tobasco? Sorry, could not resist.

Late night hypothetical trade idea:

1, 22, 60 and Armo
for
2,3,12

Pick 60 could easily be swapped out for a fringe player if needed.

That trade formula stuff I posted a while ago comes back with values of 4920 (Us) for 5380 (Dees) which falls well within their threshold of a fair trade.

I guess this trade would depend on how much the Dees rate Petracca as they probably wouldn't be taking Brayshaw if they were interested in 1. I dunno how likely it is but it looks like a fair trade to me.

This is what I have wanted all along. I really am not convinced Melbourne would be that foolish, but I sure hope they will be.

McCartin + Brayshaw
Petracca + McCartin

Whatever it ends up being will be a huge platform for the build. A likely elite forward and an almost definite elite mid. That shores up two problems immediately. We would still hold on to later picks in this deal as well which is preferable to me. I like the model of taking your chances with lower picks and backing your intuition. It happens more and more often in football, and Stephen Milne, Dean Cox, Josh Gibson, Ben McGlynn, Kieren Jack, Joel Patful, Matt Priddis, Aaron Sandilands, Brad Sewell, etc. can attest. Those are just rookie listed players, there are a lot more later picks that have become successful. It's certainly possible. Pair that with almost certainties for talent in high draft picks and I think you have the right balance.

This is mentally exhausting, just imagine the list management teams right now.

The most confusing trade period I've ever seen. Nobody knows what is going to happen.

It wouldn't surprise me anymore if Matthew Pavlich suddenly requested a trade to Richmond tomorrow.

A little disappointing for mine that it's likely we don't get Petracca.

3, 12 and a sweetener coming back would be what's needed from Melbourne for mine.

Best case Scenario that's McCartin, Weller and something good.

Worst Case Scenario is we get Petracca anyway, plus another top 15 prospect and a steak knifes that turn out ok.

Just thinking about that Christiansen only got 21 for him when we got
18, 19, Savage
For
Mcevoy, 24, 59

We absolutely killed that trade compared to the AC trade yesterday, let alone the players we were able to take with those picks

Have also heard Mitch Wallis wants out the rabble that used to be known as the Western Bulldogs.

i somehow doubt that. it would be like liberatore wanting to leave.

Who could Melbourne possibly give as a 'sweetener'?
