Not at all, I've come around on Abbott, having read a fair bit deeper he seems like a bloke who will end up playing half decent footy for a few years at WAFL level, then play 'beer and ciggies' footy with his mate for 300-odd games...

Talented, but perhaps not cut out for elite footy.

I just find it amusing that you went as far as 'worst you'd ever seen'...

maybe a tad harsh there...but from the big three, emma, callum and him. could add paige to that mix. its the worst ive seen

i just dont get it. i'm still trying to work out how geelong takes wright after loading up on clarke, stanley when they already have vardy etc.

anyways just my opinion

maybe its one we can revisit after the draft ;)

Quite a good effort by Anderson, Phantoms, esp this year, are very tough going. Would be rapt in Duggan - if he's still there at 21... Garlett would be a good one as well. Didn't know Adel missed out on Maynard as a F/S. Reckon Adel will go KP though

Just surprised Anderson doesn't have Peter Bampton at all - doubt he will miss out. Had him (+ Maynard) as a Saints option at 21-22.
Nelson #60, Keitel #69 and Josh Glenn #93. I thought these 3 might go earlier.

lonie over neal-bullen is another...thats before you question why neal-bullen is still there in the 3rd round

Vardy is extraodinarily injury prone, Clark a big gamble and Stanley will predominantly ruck from what I hear.

Wright then gets to develop for two years and becomes a fwd/ruck or enormous CHF.

I don't necessarily agree, but it makes some sense.

Touk's measurement at the draft camp was 178.2 cm.

Sorry but I don't know how to cut and paste, but from this post I would suggest Brian has a LOT of info that us guys don't. Miller is measured everywhere else at 177cm.

Lonie fills a need for us - tackle-happy small forward - that NB doesn't; besides, although I like him Neal-Bullen has a lot of similarities to Ross for me (grinding mid with extra polish).

If clubs made the obvious, right or sensible decision every time, then we wouldn't have so many half back flankers and GWS wouldn't have 400 blokes over 195cm... It happens...

Cats get Wright... at 10?

Clark is injury prone and has had issues, Rhys will play as a ruckman only while Vardy has had his share of injuries. If the Cats rate Wright as top 5, they won't want to miss out on him and will take him at #10. GWS might want Pickett and Lever, fair enough they are just as good as Wright, Pies have a better key forward prospect in Moore and the Suns have a few to play the Wright role so it doesn't make sense to take him if he isn't clearly best avail at their pick.

Doing a mock draft this year, especially weeks out from the draft, is very difficult and I commend Brett for attempting one and sharing with us his thoughts and insight.

Bampton is overrated, I was on his bandwagon earlier in the year but jumped off because he is a nothing kick and it's hard to see where the upside will come. He also missed Champs.

If all these phantoms are so different and varied, it is going to be edge of your seat stuff as we sit back and wait until our picks 21/22 are ready to be called out on November 27.
Got a good feeling that there will be another Dunstan/Acres type duo coming our way! Looks like some really talented players to at least the 27 to 30 mark.
Trout, Trout, Trout.......is what we will be chanting post draft

i disagree on lonie completely. we've used curren in that role. confident minch and eli can bring a more competitive edge to their game. membrey doesnt mind a tackle either. we have a number of small fwd options and can be used as a resting spot for the mids, that need that side to their game anyways. murdoch, saunders are others

we dont have too many how can play on the outside and pinch hit on the inside like neal-bullen. we've missed it since dal left

like i get the case of trying to argue needs based selection but quoting a small tackling mid as the reason, doesnt cut it IMO

We'll agree to disagree.

As far as Curren goes though, he was woeful in terms of scoring threat, something Lonie wouldn't be, and I for one can't wait to see TC back in the middle where he belongs...

yeh thats fine

totally agree on curren...personally i think we over-rate him. mavs gone past him by a mile. but the point is i can see another 3-4 potential options in lonies role. thats before you look at potential rookie list options. those small fwds are dime-a-dozen

where as i cant see too many in neal-bullens role. newnes probably the closest. maybe acres but surely we dont do that to him and break him. he's probably better used off half back anyways

the other thing is neal-bullens tank. we desperately need some endurance

fair call rahul and i agree its good to get the info

but this has been the one mock draft that just doesnt resonate with me. happy to be the only one who feels this way, but its the most head scratching one ive read so far

I know why BrianSpeaking rates Touk so highly.
It isn't to do with his attributes as a player but because of the school he went to.

missed it by that much hey! i think he's right with lamb though, essendon take with 18 or 20
If he doesn't go to top4 side next year Or just a team that can develop anyone I think he's gonna majorly struggle

Oscar McDonald now listed at 197/94, up from 196/88.... Now he's in UB's wheelhouse ;)

Pick 1: Petracca
Pick 21: McKenzie
Pick 22: McDonald/Neal-Bullen
Pick 41: Webb/Howard/McLaren

:D

If anyone is following the BF phantom draft, there's Duggan, Ellis, Garlett, Menadue, Marchbank and Langford left (they're the few I can name off the top of my head that I'd definitely be happy with), with Essendon's pick 20 before us.
Would be absolutely rapt if we got Petracca, Duggan and Langford with our first few picks though

If I was Rahul and had to pick from those players I would go

1) Langford
2) Duggan
3) Ellis
4) gartlett
Daylight
5)mendenue
6) marchbank

Intersting a couple of weeks who I did a potential slider list and the top 4 players (lang, dug, ell, garlt) were all on it.

A key defender as your last preference, no way!:p
But seriously, any two of those top 4 would be awesome, a midfield brigade of: Petracca, Duggan, Langford, Billings, Dunstan, Acres, Templeton, Steven, Ross, Membrey, Newnes, Armitage would be pretty damn good.
I know that most of them would be in there for short spells and rotating off flanks and the bench, but that is seriously impressive

Edit: left out Saunders, Murdoch, Markworth, Curren, Minch and Wright who can all go in there if needed, and also Ray and Montagna because they're probably gone in a couple of years when we (hopefully) start to climb.
