A key defender as your last preference, no way!:p
But seriously, any two of those top 4 would be awesome, a midfield brigade of: Petracca, Duggan, Langford, Billings, Dunstan, Acres, Templeton, Steven, Ross, Membrey, Newnes, Armitage would be pretty damn good.
I know that most of them would be in there for short spells and rotating off flanks and the bench, but that is seriously impressive
I have always said if durdin or lever are their I would take them, I wouldn't be reaching on b grade defenders on an important pick since you can grab KPD's later in the draft IMO which offer up a greater value for the pick.

At least we bloody stopped with the pelican pics - sheesh!!

They took the man I use to love cavaka at 20, who was always mocked at 60ish earlier in the year.

Rahul can't really stuff these picks up (not that he would normally )

If the draft actually fell like this I would be so happy. We'd have to go a KPP at 41 though (provided the ones left aren't spuds), our midfield is surely sorted (with the planned addition of one of Parish or Matheson next year) but our KPP stocks are starting to look quite thin, especially down back

Add Petracca and our midfield will be awesome in 3-4 years time....now to sort out our KPF and KPD issues!!
With the way the draft is going they may still be gun mids at 41

I know why BrianSpeaking rates Touk so highly.
It isn't to do with his attributes as a player but because of the school he went to.
What a joke. A player must be "a beast" because he goes to a certain school, by the same logic I rate Spencer White as the flat out Greatest of All Time, Michael Jordan has nothing on him and Plugger isn't in the same building, let alone on the same level

No, said poster rating Touk Miller has nothing to do with his leadership, composure in packs, ability to win the ball and kick goals, notable sidestep, it's because he went to a certain school. Oh and by the way, he happened to come second in said school's Best and Fairest despite playing for Vic Metro during the school's footy season and despite being 17 as a Y12. Seriously.

Absolutely.

It's funny as last year it was much more clear cut who we would take and I got it right (Billings & Dunstan). I also picked Hartung but of course we all know that Acres slipped so we pounced. This year we don't have a clue - especially at 21/22 as there are so many choices/options - exciting stuff

Lol I do the opposite and don't normally rate people from st.bedes because I have seen them day to day. Like lamb, sumner etc. (loved steven ;) )

No one rates blokes from St Bedes...

Rahul took
21 Duggan
22 Langford

10/10 both guys I would take top 10
Great choices, if only it was the real thing... Funny though, I see both players as boom or bust when it comes making it in the midfield.

Trying so hard not to get excited by some of the players we are getting in phantoms.

Even if Duggan never makes it as a true mid he would be an upgrade on either flanks as a great kick and link up player.

Langford is the prototypical afl player can play every position bar KPP and ruck so both have solid fall back options

Now that everyone is all over the draft, anyone wish we pulled the trigger on 12 for armo?

I'm still undecided just because he seems like a great teammate and teacher but anouther high pick in this unpredictable draft would be handy

I view Langford as a Birchall type (if he can't develop an inside game), who has better marking ability, but not quite as good a kick but still very very good. Still can pinch hit on the wing in any case.

Duggan can make it as an inside/outside mid in my view, has all the tools, moves well through packs, great spacial awareness and a super kick.

No complaints over here :thumbsu:

Interesting, do u rate vickers or lang as the better defender when all said is done

Does anyone know if we plan on using the PSD? Can players sign rookie deals in the PSD?

In theory could we grab McKernan (as a rookie) with pick 1 in the PSD and then Le Grice with pick 1 in the rookie draft?

Vickers is probably the better 1v1 defender, but Langford has the better aerial skills with potential to actual play as a tall midfielder. I can't see Vickers making an impact as a tall midfielder. Langford is also a lot more damaging so you can play him on the half-forward flank as well, as a more roaming flanker. Langford probably just edges Vickers in playing the 3rd man up role IMO, cos Langford's hands are pretty damn sticky and his judgement of the flight is outstanding.

Depends on how the actual draft plays out I guess, but if we got someone like Durdin, Goddard, De Goey, Weller or Ahern for that pick it would be amazing.

We also don't want to become a Melbourne and trade out players we know can perform at AFL level (even if it isn't superstar level), for U18's who at the moment we know nothing about, but at the same time; Ross, Membrey, Steven, Curren, Newnes, Ray and Montagna can perform at a reasonable level in the midfield, the younger brigade of Dunstan, Billings, Acres and Templeton look like they have the goods (barring injuries ruining their career), and adding a Petracca and 2-3 other mids in a draft that has a lot of decent mids would go a long way to addressing the loss of Armitage, who would otherwise be on his last legs when we push for a flag. I'd also back us to not screw up our development like Melbourne

I've got a left-field suggestion for you, draft aficionados...

Calder's Reilly O'Brien, a 202cm 98kg overager; played a bit in the ruck and as a KPD, but notably went onto my boy McKenzie after he'd taken some early grabs in the late round game against Northern, and did pretty well getting a fist in to marking contests.

Had a bit of help that day but showed a bit of potential as a very tall KPD. Overlooked last year as a skinny ruckman, so nice to see he has other strings to his bow. Athleticism is excellent.
