McKenzie is a very slim chance to improve our forward line IMO. That's my point on considering picking him at 22.

*shrug* agree to disagree.

We dont need some bust project FF when we are getting Cameron next trade period And have Riewoldt for at least the next two

Rix did fine for a guy who was told he was there for depth and probably wouldn't get a game.
I used to go up to Syd to watch us play and i remember big Rixy kicking a great goal from the Boundary line from a fair way out at the SCG once:D
If that was his only highlight it was a bloody good one:thumbsu:

Any mail that it will actually be Petracca?

My father in law lives next door to trout, I've left a friendly yet stern msg. Take petracca or I'll burn down your unit. I'll update you guys on the response. Sorry to Uncle Barrels didn't want to push my luck and ask for McKenzie too.

I remember that.

Truth be told he hit the top of the post AFAIR, but it was raining so bloody hard no one on the field noticed...

A functioning forwardline is part of a competitive list.

Once Roo's gone we're up the proverbial creek unless we have some form of replacement, and right now we have Lee (permanently injured) and White (erratic)... Then nothing...

Yes we need KPP - at least two of them - and soon

McKenzie has a lot of good attributes, but he does appear limited in some respects. I want him.

I do see him as a bit of a "one trick pony" though - can only really play as key forward - but what a trick eh

Can't see him being tall enough to compete in the ruck at AFL level and doesn't look to have the agility to be a key defender

That said, in my mind's eye, he wont need to do anything else. He could be a Plugger style full forward finishing off the good work of our team full of mids

McKenzie seems to be around the right range in the draft for us to pick.
He's 196cm, so he might be able to stand in the middle and tap at the ball for 10 minutes a game while Hickey finishes heaving his guts up before going back out there. ( more seriously I think he has played a bit of ruck ).

A lot of his low points seem to be associated with his slow pace off the mark. But I wonder, given his combine results showing real pace over 20m, if specific coaching could help him get a bit more explosive.

Great to see Terry Milera put family first as it should be. Good luck to Tez and his wife.

Feel really sorry for Rachel. I've had the same problem. The main surgery takes 6 months before one is able to walk down the street without pain, 12 months before the chest stops being numb.
Been 6 years since I started reviving treatment for mine, still have pain occasionally after sport and that is only swimming and indoor soccer!

Wish her all the best

I don't think he offers any less flexibility than McCartin and some are more than happy to take him at pick 1. At best, McCartin learns to play CHF but realistically he appears to be your stay at home full forward type just like McKenzie. I see McKenzie at 21 as far less of a risk than McCartin at pick 1.

Would rather we pick McKenzie at 21/22, than McCartin at pk 1.
Agreed. if we can get an 80% equivalent of mccartin in Mckenzie that's not too bad, bc I'm not sure we'll find at 80% equivalent of petracca in the 20's.

Would rather McKenzie be taken before our picks so the choice is taken away from us. We cant stuff it up (either by spudding it or killing it) if he isn't available and it means someone might slide.

Choice of the class of Duggan or Weller vs the potential of McKenzie.

Having said that, a forwardline to choose from out of Cameron, Membrey, Petracca, Billings, Eli, Minch, McKenzie, White/Lee does look very handy.

Even if McKenzie went before our picks we probably still wouldn't have much chance at Duggan or Weller sliding that far. I think we'd need a lot of other things to go our way for either of those two to make it to our picks.

ha ha...Weller/Duggan aint gonna slide that far.

Think: Ellis, Lamb, McKenzie, Menadue, Garlett, Vickers, Cavka, Blakely, Neal-Bullen....definitely the 2nd rung down unfortunately!!

Pick 18/19 last year...Pick 21/22 this year

True, blame phantom drafters like KM for getting our hopes up re Duggan.

Im all a little bit meh over that 2nd rung down list. I have faith in our recruiting department but yeah, I'm not Blake Acres excited about those guys.

Garlett, McKenzie, Neal-Bullen, Ellis (though his foot injury concerns me), Cavka - in that order - the others I can live without.

Strong chance that Ellis, Lamb, Garlett, Blakely all go in the top 20. Don't rule it out. Not to mention that Brayden Maynard could be taken in the top 20 and Dan McKenzie's name has been raised there, we are s huge chance of grabbing someone rated top 15.

Would Snoop Dogg's phantom be sort of the worst case scenario for us? Seems pretty realistic and has all of Duggan, Langford, De Goey, Weller, Ahern, Cockatoo going 10-20. We still end up with McKenzie which is great and also Cavka whom I don't know too much about. While leaving ANB, Blakely, Garlett and Menadue on the table.

Cavka's an outside running machine. Had a great finals series for Calder before getting injured.
Cavka’s ability to run opponents into the ground made him one of the Cannons’ most valuable players over the second half of the TAC Cup season.

Recruiters would need to look no further than the tape of Calder’s qualifying final victory for a showcase of Cavka’s running ability.

Cavka put on a masterclass through the middle of the ground and across half forward, booting five goals and gathering 31 disposals.

Personally prefer Menadue.

Dom Barry just quit the Demons to head back home.

Indigenous players scare me a little bit. Some do anyway while others just are great players in the AFL.
