Except that his favourite app is tinder.Took a look at some of his highlights. Seems like a good kid but my first impression of him was the same as when I saw Kane Lucas's highlights was that his disposal seemed poor.
In the little bits I've seen he seems a tad slow getting ball to boot and his kicks have a tendency to float. Seems of good character though.
If Curnow slides and we take him at 8 or 11, there could be transport problems getting him to training each week. I believe the penalty for refusing a breath test is an automatic 2 year cancellation of drivers licence. On second thoughts, if we do take him, Ed might be able to drive him back and forth to training and games?![]()
Completely agree Millera is a star in the making. Tough when required. Skillful Poise and knows how to finishHow can people honestly contemplate taking players like Collins and Gresham over Milera.
Milera is a ******* talent and the third best midfielder in the open draft. He's kicked bags at SANFL level.
The weak outside tag is unfair on him - a lot more to his game
Oliver is a jet! Won the morish medal after missing preseason with osteo. With a full preseason under his belt he will burst onto the scene.Analysis paralysis here.....two weeks ago was sure I had this sussed out, two talls, two mids and SOSOS.
The closer we get the more confusing. So many possible combinations.
Terrified of Burton's injury issues, but gee is an impressive kid. Combine footage decent etc.
Thought Oliver was the go to partner Crippa, but the more I see, the more I think he may not find the
next step against mature bodies quite so easy.
Milera sees himself as a forward, not a mid, is slight and in "highlights" showed evasion, but a tendency
to run himself in to trouble getting back on his right leg.....don't want.
Didn't like skinny H.McKay, but the prospect of an imposing(3 years) and athletic target is growing on me.
Francis could be a star or a relative bust (average player) as has been allowed to do his own thing, needs
to learn discipline on field to play his role at a higher level.
Curnow has sh1t loads of ability and the right genes to be a beast up front or in the guts. Suspect the environment
he moves in to will be critical. Needs some motivation and mentoring to realise his potential. Not as driven as some
of his peers. I am confident Ed and Bolts would be a great mix to bring out the best in him.
Can't warm to Weideman at all ....... don't want, although reportedly SOS rates him highly.
Love Gresham as a bankable mid, may not be the absolute best in the draft, but the one I see as 150 game plus quality contributer. A great piece for the rebuild.
I was against Collins as did not believe it was sensible to outlay two high picks on KPD, but am now happy that
Weitering could play at either end so is not locked as a defender. Likely 10 year FB.
If the draft fell the right way would not be against B. McKay at #19 (Weitering, Burton/Curnow/Francis, Gresham)
Cunningham or Partington may be the fall back at #19 if we gamble (and lose) on Gresham getting there.
Lovell, midget, but hell stats and combine impressive. Hibberd a shot if he can become more mid than HBF.
I had Clarke pencilled in after seeing him against WA first time, but a little underwhelmed since.
Parish won't get to us. I don't rate Balic and Mathieson as high first rounders. Ah Chee and Bonner both good
players, but don't suit our needs as much as others.
Pick four out of that (OK 3 after JW).................................Clear as mud.
Very subdued Aph. Impressive.

I think Balic will still be available at out pick 11 if we were keen on him.
No way would take him over Milera.Still not a lot of love for Balic. I would take him over Milera anyday. I see Balic as being more of a cake ingredient, and Milera an icing ingredient, IMO Carlton are still baking the cake, we don't need any icing yet.
If Oliver and Francis go before pick 8 and we are looking for a mid, then Balic would be my next choice.
This. Reckon he has what it takes to be that Stringer/Darling type though.I'm not pigeon-holing him, you said his clearance work is outstanding. It isn't. If you'd seen more than a YouTube video you'd know that. Just because he dominated against a useless W.A midfield doesn't mean he can do it at AFL level (or even against a decent u/18 teams), just like Silvagni kicking 6 goals at FF against W.A doesn't mean a whole heap either.
Don't get me wrong, I rate Francis. id love to get him. Think he'd be great as part of a defensive unit with Weitering, possibly spending time up forward. And maybe he does move into the midfield one day, but he isn't one yet and has a fair bit to prove
Agree 100 %. Milera over Balic any day.No way would take him over Milera.
To my eyes theres a few tiers of midfielders developing.
Tier 1. Parish & Oliver
Tier 2. Milera
Tier 3. Clarke, Gresham, Balic
Tier 4. Mathieson, Cunningham, Dunkley etc etc
I'd take any from Tier 1 or 2 if they were on the board, Tier 3 gets a little up in the air when you look at players like Hibberd and Donner who are all class tall utilities with a lot of scope for improvement

SL has us taking:
Weitering, McKay, Curnow & .............well, another McKay
I agree that his disposal is not as bad as what is being said/written, I don't believe it's his disposal that is the issue but the decision making when looking for options. They just seem rushed and to the first person he sees.Mathieson is starting to grow on me a bit now that I see his disposal is not as bad as I had imagined after reading the draft boards etc.
What's the workaround on that link, Harks?http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...s/news-story/795f0ca07a3d301f5a9c4be27a914073
