Perhaps. From their point of view, in the heat of the moment, they're half relying on instinct and what they can see, and I imagine Kvyat, being the ambitious youngster, was probably thinking with heart rather than head.

Contracts. They up and quit and they almost certainly have to pay a fortune.

Might be cheaper than using up 15 crap engines per car for the season and all the extra costs one blowing causes haha
