I just listened to the interview again (on SEN website), but I didn't get any feeling either way specifically in regards to Kruezer. That said, he did mention that they look at the contract trends, and elements including base contract and match payments etc. You would think Kruezer's management would be looking for a high base payment, but given his injury history possible clubs may offer slightly lower base with match payment bonuses.
He did mention history etc. and the amount of football left. Also discussed things around protecting a certain number of picks in the draft from compo picks (though i guess that can't happen this year).

Someone earlier on (either an agent, or Scott Lucas) mentioned that a contract well in excess of $600K/year would be required for band-1 compo, and suggested Kruezer might struggle to get $600K with other players floating around (talk was around Collingwood being interested, but only being able to afford $570K).

The AFL has obviously shot themselves in the foot with the Frawley compensation... but they have the possibility to not propagate that wrong this year and going forward. Band-1 should be reserved for the absolute elite (ie Dangerfield, Rockliff, Buddy, Pendlebury), regardless of their initial draft pick or the value of the contract.
There's no chance Collingwood would be paying more than $500,000 for him. Schrenberg is demanding $350,000-$400,000 to stay (according to Tom Browne), Aish would cost them $400,000 and Treloar will set them back $750,000.

Below are a variety of outs the afl could point to depending on circumstances if they don't want to give carlton band 1 for kreuzer compared to Frawley

1. Lower contract
2. Shorter contract
3. Higher contract but looking to be a higher a salary cap with new tv deal
4. Performance based contract
5. Kreuzer 9 months older than Frawley was last year
6. Based on comments above never been all australian (although not part of any info released on the formula)
7. Finally The rule does give the afl discretion and given everyone but carlton would be advantaged by not giving them pick 2 from a pr perspective it's still a good news story for the afl.

Actually hoping I end up owing TheBrownDog a slab...and Evans' interview; whilst full of spin, did mention certain criteria that made me check the price of XXXX :thumbsu:

1. What the player has done to this stage of his career. Well, SFA when it comes to Kruezer.
2. What is likely to to achieve moving forward. On the basis of what we've seen, more injuries.

And two points that need to be considered are that Frawley was an AA and during the last 6 years of their time at their previous clubs; Frawley averaged 20 games per season, Kruezer just 12.

At the end of the day, all up to the AFL and what they see as more important moving forward.

Interesting times ahead.

Curious about any correlation between a unique brew mixed from materials literally out of this world and XXXX.

Lol I was going to recommend a slab of Duvel.

Had a bad experience in Brussels involving a few too many Duvels. Havent touched it since.

Not sure if I've had Sail and Achor.

Article about the 3AW interview: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...arn-carlton-pick-two-in-draft-20150908-gji2ia

Evans said the formula used to calculate the worth of players was complex and salaries were compared to others available in the same year. "It does depend on what contract value is formed for a player who leaves as a free agent," he said. "The different structure of that could mean the difference between a first-round selection or a second-round selection."

Good noise coming out of the AFL regarding this from our perspective.

Since 2009, Carlton has finished above us, apart from this year - so for 5 years ,10,11,12,13,14 carlton has been better than us come seasons end. That tells me one thing, we need more help than Carlton. Carlton 8th in 2010 5th in 2011 (finals)

So Afl get the Carlton Management into a Chrylser PT Kreuzer ,have a few Vodka Kreuzers to soften them up... while they drive around Princess Park Kreuzering for Draft talent, with fluffy dice hanging from the rear view mirror ,in their purple Holden Monaro, then tell them to F (for Francis) off!!!!
PS the number plates on the above car is befitting of the final outcome- PIGS ARSE

Things have got a bit subdued on the Blues board since Mark Evans's remarks.

Some are pondering legal action.
As much as all the hooplah in the media following our decision not to tank was painful to endure, it was only ever going to work in our favour. Put that in your pipe & smoke it Andy Maher.

Wow..that Scharenberg has balls to demand that much coin from a club that has been not much more then a free medical clinic to him

I wouldn't be too ashamed TBD,the transgender hooker has fooled me on more than one occasion !

Lol I was going to recommend a slab of Duvel. Ruby Tuesday, had never heard of it, just googled it. Not wanting to get too off topic but anything like Sail & Anchor amber ale?

Despite its alleged "amber ale"ness it tastes more like a slightly darker pale ale. Not as malty as other ambers like James Squire or Stone & Wood.

We have options though. We can trade Aish + pick 3 to Carlton for Bell and pick 2. Not a big deal. The reason why Schache will be a gun is because he's an elite set shot at goal, good overhead, good endurance and Kevin "shifter" Sheenan said that he hasn't seen a key forward dominate the championships, in all he's time as a AFL talent manger (He stated it in the highlight video on youtube) as Schache has.

Trading Aish for Bell and single pick upgrade would be an absolute last resort (yet reasoned if it meant not missing out on Schache/Francis if the club highly rated them and they were a lock to get picked before us).

There have been no less than 6 clubs linked to Aish by the media, and I dare say he could be packaged up with a round 1/early round 2 pick (Luey Compo or picks gotten from Redden if he leaves etc etc), and go for another pick in the 5-10 range - such as Collingwood's first pick if they don't lose it for Treloar. I'd even be sniffing out Geelong (if they don't go for Danger), St. Kilda, Melbourne and Essendon also.

Even if he is does he solve their KPF issues?

Far from it. Maybe the new coach has some faith in Watson stepping up and being a target up there too. They have massive holes in defence too, just hope the alleged agreement between the two clubs about leaving Weitering for Carlton and them leaving Schache for us are true.

If they land Carlisle they would have to take Schache, that scares me. Hopefully Carlisle goes to the Bulldogs.

Watson will be de-listed. I think they have to take Schache. They do already have Jaksch who hasn't been great but looks like a backmen.
