If the inexplicable happens and they don't bid for Mills then Carlton end up with Mills who could well end up being better than Weitering anyway.
It's a no brainer and I hope it happens.
Yeah... but then they don't get the player/key forward they want. In some rare cases a club may pick a player just to force another club to use thier pick early, but I don't see it happening that a club would pick an academy player over the player they want just to force the academy team to use more picks. That would kind of be stupid really.

What would be stupid is if Sydney don't take Mills and settle for Joe Blow at pick 33!

If we were to get Francis at 6, would we still be going after Hibberd as they play in the same position roughly don't they?

Blake Hardwick (Eastern Ranges), Luke Partington (Norwood), Gach Nyuon (Dandenong Stingrays)

Partington and O'Kearny were top 20 Prospects 4months ago.. Now all the sudden there smokeys.
Hardwick.. Any kid who kicks bags of 10 on multiples occasions is worth a shot..
FREMANTLE??
Crocker was talked about second round prospect
Lovell possible first round and Rioli second round

Unless Hibberd is there, just best available I think, preferably inside mid, small defender, or genuine gut running wingman (probably not we are targeting but I would love to have one in the squad besides Shaw). I've seen the likes of Tucker, Ah Chee, Balic, Mathison, etc. fall anywhere between top 10 and early second round in various mock drafts and I wouldn't mind any of them at 16 or whatever our pick ends up being if they are still there.
Got Hibberd ;)

Looking around pick 56 and if picking for a needs basis I would happy with any of the following as far as either a small forward or negating small defender or even a decent KPP (mock draft courtesy of knightmare):

49. Richmond – Hisham Kerbatieh (VIC – FWD)
Height: 177cm, Weight: 77kg, DOB: 16/05/1997
Recruited from: Calder Cannons
Range: 20-undrafted
Profile: Talented small forward with a long kick.

50. Gold Coast (via trade) - Blake Hardwick (VIC – FWD)
Height: 181cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 05/02/1997
Recruited from: Eastern Ranges
Range: 20-undrafted
Profile: Talented forward who provides heavy scoreboard impact.

51. Essendon (via trade) - Mitch Brown (VIC – KPP)
Height: 196cm, Weight: 93kg, DOB: 28/08/1990
Recruited from: Sandringham (VFL)
Range: 30-undrafted
Profile: Versatile, ready to produce key position player.

52. Fremantle (via trade) – Sam Skinner (VIC – KPP)
Height: 197cm, Weight: 96kg, DOB: 29/06/1997
Recruited from: Gippsland Power
Range: 15-rookie
Profile: Promising key position player who missed much of this season hurt.

53. West Coast (via trade) – Stephen Tahana (SA – MID/DEF)

Recruited from: North Adelaide

I read Tahana is a good lock down defender.. I'm guessing similar size and shape to Lemmens.

Out the lot of them I'd like Hardwick, just needs to work on his endurance and forward pressure

Stephen Tahana highlights - looks like Lemmens, kicks like Lemmens (not great) but may have a better contested game and potentially a good defensive player (read that he shut down Ah Chee in the championships)

I'd prefer Kerbatieh or Tahana if I had to choose out of them. Admittedly though I have only read a small amount about all of them and haven't watched any highlights, and I'm not even sure we are using 56? But how can you pass up on a name like Kerbatieh. Such a fun name to say. Would surely become a cult hero.

Looks like we are the only team between picks 3 and 8 that are not in the mix to get him.

Probably about right... on the depth chart he would sit behind Lynch, Day and Wright and you can only play so many KFs. From a famous football family in Melbourne so most likely leave after year 2 if not getting opportunities as there would be a bevy of Melbourne clubs lining up for him.

Hopefully gets picked in the first 5 so it opens up our options with either a Francis or Oliver available.

If for some reason Weidemen, Francis and Oliver go before our pick how about a Parish (6) and Mathiesen (16) combo?
