I'll take Saturday night games over any other any day of the week. Hate home games during the week (including Friday night) love Saturday games. Happy for the away games to be midweek and Sunday's. Would love all home games to be 7pm Saturday :)
I agree. Personally, I'm not fan of Friday night games. It's harder for my mate and I to get there early because he does not finish work until 5.30 and then we have rush. But I figure Friday night games are better for the club (national exposure, etc.), so I'm more than happy to deal with it. :)

Only two Friday night games is average, 3 - 4 would have been just after our season.

But a string of Saturday night games would be huge for our suppprters and crowds. 5 and I'm content.

Bouncedowns for Friday nights used to be 8-10 SA time so that the broadcast could start 8-30 Vic time. That crap changed this year with ours and the crows Friday home games and their Thursday games starting at 7-20 SA time.

Just realised, are people actually complaining about the first NAB game being Sunday twilight? The reason it's twilight is because it'll most likely be a stinking hot day! I'd be furious if we had any daytime games. Not very happy with the 3:40pm start for the last game tbh. Personally, I think all pre-season fixtures should be night games.

Also, pre-season showdowns are great because it's one less week we (and every other non-VIC team) have to travel for the year. Seriously, the novelty has worn off. Who gives a **** about pre-season "showdowns" anymore? They're practice games.
The only thing is that we may have to take this one a little more seriously, as it's the last practice game before round 1. If it was round 1 of the Mickey Mouse Cup, then by all means - play all the kids. But I'd imagine Kenny would be wanting to settle the side down before round 1, so round 3 could be a fairer indication of how we'll line up against Freo.

If we only have 2 Friday night games then the Afl is a joke. I'm not keen on Friday night either coz of work but weve earnt it and we should get it.

If the 5th game is Geelong and the first 4 as suggested then I have no doubt that the afl has an agenda to weaken Port.

These tough games in a row and a really tough draw completely favour the clubs with huge depth. So where does that take us - back to the hawks and sydney. Great idea afl you tossers.

As silly as it sounds I don't mind returning to AAMI for 1 pre-season game. It will bring back the memories of the last showdown there. ;)

Yeah it doesnt bother me so much either. I'm taking it as a sign that the following year's (2016) pre-season clash will be at Alberton which will hopefully make us some money.

Considering we generally start stronger than most other teams due to the Burgess preseason it's probably not such a bad thing to get these tough games out of the way early. Hopefully this means if our mid-season form slump comes along again next year it'll be when we're playing st kilda/melbourne/gws etc. so we can scrape through some wins.

Still, it's a bloody tough start!

Someone on the main board said we also have Geelong in Geelong in round 5. That is one hell of a start.

One might think we are the premiers the way they've structured the draw. The AFL are scared of us stealing the thunder of those ****s from the Gold Coast, because it's around this time that they should have been starting to challenge for a flag or at least make finals.

What other team has had to play Fremantle away, both grand finalists (albeit at home), a bitter rival looking for redemption with a new coach AND Geelong at Kardinia - all in the first five rounds? It's almost ridiculous.

Smell the fear.

We'll also have to play most of them again late in the season. Would be surprised if any team has had a tougher start ever. Afl=no integrity. It's just one agenda after another.

What will the AFL do once we're 5-0? Start doing our players in with suspensions?....... Well it that wouldn't surprise me.

Hahaha our draw is looking ridiculous.
Also, according to Kane Cornes the crows are extremely happy with theirs, insomuch as it being beneficial to them getting back into finals. They just manage to keep on getting easy draws.

And they'll keep failing because of it. If Adelaide really wants to do some damage in September, they need to play against tougher opponents that show them where they really are at.

Back when we owned the sanfl and there were 22 round seasons, we would play the big clubs of the day 3 times a year and absolutely revel in it. They were the big money games and they gave us that tungsten hardened edge for finals.

In 1990 we were scheduled to play Glenelg at Alberton mid-season in a top of the table clash. Port agreed for the game to be moved to Footy Park for the bigger crowd and another game at the home of finals. We went to Footy Park and beat the top of the table Bays by 20 points in front of 24,880. I vaguely remember us going pretty well that year amidst a few off-field distractions. ;)

Embrace the draw, we are forging the hardest steel in the minor round.

Not fussed about our potential draw.

If we are good enough, we will take care of business and it won't matter.

Some see it as being an AFL agenda: I see it as an opportunity to show the rest of the competition how good we are. If we can get through the first 5 games with a 4-1 or even 3-2 record, I'll be fairly rapt with that.

It's a long season, and a good start will go a long way towards setting us up for a hat trick of finals appearances.

True, and I welcome a tough draw as well. The only trouble with the SANFL/AFL comparison is that with a league of 10 teams and a five it was possible to lose quite a few games in the year and still challenge for the finals. I remember once we lost to Centrals 3 times out of 3 in the minor round but then won the flag. And the flag in SA has been won from 5th. Even though we came within a gnats of winning from 5th in 2014, the fact remains that a double chance is a significant advantage.

Geelong away in Round 5.

This is bordering on the ridiculousness. But I love it. Big games at the start of the season, national eyes on us, let's embrace it.

We ARE the hard draw. Every single one of those teams will be praying that we don't lose the week before...

That's because we keep on managing to miss the eight :)
