We had the first home game this season, just happened to be a showdown. We will play the opening game in 2016.

The whole 'earning' a good draw is just afl bullshit - doesn't apply to Victorian teams who play shithouse.

It's OK: we get to play in September, while the Crows don't

The Port V Hawthorn on ANZAC day, Saturday Night is a great coup for the club, unfortunately I've got a wedding to go to so I won't able to make it. Hopefully we will get 52,000+ for the game I'll pass on my ticket to a friend so that my seat will be occupied at least. Having Fremantle and Hawthorn early on is also good for us.

I hope the Showdowns are separated well. For example, in 2013 we had them in Rounds 3 and 19, I like that. I'm hoping the second Showdown next year can be late in the season, Round 21 specifically (will next year be a 23-round season???)

Of the top 6, the 3 we play twice are Sydney freo and hawthorn and miss out on the two weaker teams of this top 6. The middle team we play twice is adelaide who I would rate the best of essendon Richmond Gold Coast west coast and Collingwood and the team we face twice in the bottom 6 we are unsure of at this stage, probably Brisbane ha.

Hawthorn had the hardest draw by far this year... doesnt count for everything as youve still gotta play everyone once and the best teams always get there regardless. lets hope we're in that bracket now where draws arent the difference

Would be very rough for us to end up with 3 double-meetings with top 6 ranked sides. Not convinced that we will end up with that draw. I expect double-ups against two of the top 6, two of the middle 6, and one of the bottom 6 teams. Just cause we play a side early, doesn't mean we'll double up against them. This year, our first 7 rounds were Carlton, Adelaide, Norf, Brisbane, West Coast, Geelong and GWS. Only Carlton and Adelaide did we play twice.

Still, pumped to get the season off to a cracking start and hit the comp hard early. ANZAC Day sounds like it would be fantastic next year. Wish I could be there for it.

In 2013, Hawthorn had the other 7 finalists from 2012 in the first 7 rounds - didn't stop them going all the way. If we're good enough, we can do the same thing next year. If we can keep close to our best team on the park for most of the season, I reckon the other teams will have more to worry about than we will.
