Toughest fixture we've ever had IMO. Start with 5 really tough ones, end with 3. Barely any soft away games throughout the season.

Gotta win them if we're good enough, but the fixture hasn't done us any favours footy-wise.
I think that's one of the biggest negatives of the draw this year they've given us the easy home games whereas last year a fair few of our tougher matches were at home.

No doubt it'll be a challenging year doubling up against the top 3 sides & playing the tougher teams at their grounds but we're a contender now & don't have Gilligan gifting us a silver spoon draw like he does for his swampies at West Lakes.

It's not as bad as I thought it would be but would prefer to play the likes of GWS away whilst they're still developing.

Thursday night footy can eat a bag. Not playing North in Adelaide for the third year in a row can eat a bigger one. I really want us to smash those campaigners.
Thursday night is shit. I can get there easily from work, but it rules out being able to take my boys. And I'll be stuck in a suit there unless I take a change of clothes.

Adelaide with their demographic of supporters whose kids now have kids can have Thursday nights. Suits them perfectly. Shit for our supporter base.

From rounds 5-8 we have 4 consecutive Sunday twilight games at 4.10, WTF is that crap?

Other than that, it is a tough draw, but certainly not horrendous. I love our 2 Friday night and 2 Thursday night games. I also love our multiple Saturday night games on Seven not Fox.

Great start to the year again and we are well and truly set up. Having both Sydney and Hawks at home in those first 5 rounds is bloody huge. If we come out of that 4-1 top 2 is well and truly on the cards again.

Just been having a look at the cows fixture post. Some of our supporters are posting there but I don't, some of their mods don't like me and look for any reason to ban me, all I have to do is show that they're wrong and I have a week off. They're actually saying that their draw is easy this year and that we had it easy last year. Although we did have only 1 finalist in the first 5, none of the games were against easybeats (well, except Brisbane). And we had some very hard runs later. Round 6-10 we had Geelong, Freo, Hawthorn. Having Hawthorn twice this year will be a real test.
The cows seem to manage to ignore the fact that last year was the first year of weighted draws and we got teams based on our 2013 position. While when they finished in a top position, their draw was based on the whim of a good mate.

Thursday night away is good to watch on TV, but will be a bitch taking the kids to a thursday night game with school the next day. Mate took his to the Crows game last year and didnt get home until after midnight.

I'm a shift worker who frequently needs to take leave to accommodate footy attendance. Thursday night is the same as any other night for me.

Great draw not just for where we are heading as a football club but also to light up the eyes of current and potential sponsors.

Imagine our selling points to Renault two years ago compared to what we will to Second level sponsors over the next 6 months

But what game do I head to Melbourne for! (Other than the first weekend in October of course)

Good doubles,
Hawthorn, will play these guys in october.
Sydney, could be interesting to see how their old brigade go after the belting.
Freo, literally could fall off the world, or could stay top 5.
WB, they'll be better but it's not saying much.
Adelaide, Ken has 4 rounds + preseason to dissect phil's game plan, plenty of time.

I think you will find that the second July Thursday night match is in the middle of school holidays, so school won't be an issue.

That was my first thought as well, but the Thursday against Collingwood is in the school holidays next year, so school wouldn't be an issue. Obvioulsy, 12 is still quite late though :p

EDIT: beaten to it

As I'll be moving to Qld in new year ... Lions in May at Gabba then Suns in August at Metricon! :thumbsu:
