Position 2015: Forwards

Always one of the hardest positions to pick; so many speculative options. Looks like I'll be loading up with all the top priced M/F midfielders at this stage with maybe 3 or 4 rookie priced players.

Thoughts?

I reckon Mark LeCras will be a bargain pick up. Only played the 15 games in 2014 but he still averaged 89 dream team points. He's capable of big scores for a small forward. If he has a big 2015 season he will score quite well.

He could be a unique option but with the crazy value/options in the forward line hed be at the back of that long list.

Im looking to pick 2 forwards in the midfield group with the value i see in the areas at the moment.

That will probably change, ill almost certainly pick 1 in the mids. Really depends on the midfield rookies. I dont see much i like there just yet.

Dumont - not best 22 at roos
Newton - Seems on the fringe/likely sub option at Melbourne i also doubt his scoring potential/ability
Freeman - Will he be best 22? Hes one of the more fancied options
Morabito - Cant see him being much more than a sub option at Freo
Cripps - Is one i like i think he should be playing for Carlton, shown hes capable of 30 possessions at VFL level.

I wish you could pick 12 forwards this year, not 8. Really wish AFL fantasy went with a similar approach to RDT and even took it to another level.

How about 8 backs, 11 mids, 2 rucks (1 field - 1 bench), 9 forwards this year. Wouldve thrown some great spanners in the works. It also far better resembles actual AFL sides.

What are you're thoughts on Patrick Ambrose? I reckon he could potentially have a breakout season this year and produce some decent scores (around 60-70 points). He's one player I'm interested in having in my dream team.

There are a lot of good premo forwards this year, actually looking at the forwards though I am considering a cash cow approach to my forward line. I think there is money in players there, then the high price of the first rounders in the midfield.

Its not even worth looking for value in the forward line as theres a heap of great premiums to select as well as lower priced rookie options that could be good cash cows. I reckon its the easiest position to fill this year. Just pick your 3 or 4 premiums and load the rest up on the lower priced rookies

Are the lower priced rookies really as good as what everyone is saying them to be?

They all seems to be key forwards that are 200cm giants

M.Clark - Injury, hasnt played footy for some time, under done, Key forward
Hogan - Key forward, injury prone at a shit footy club who will be bottom of the ladder again this year
Boyd - Will get the best key defender every week at the dogs, average bottom end side, injury conerns?
T.Membrey - Not a giant but play as a tall forward, whats his scoring potential, shit side who will likely be wooden spooners, unknown role, is he even best 20?

Then i really dont see much changing with Sylvia unless he's doing something amazing in PS and his career/training has changed

K.Lambert - Rookie needs to be promoted. They have too many similar to him through the midfield now

R.Tarrant - Seems pure depth especially down back behind S.Thompson, Grima, Tippett and Hansen (Does a Delaney still play for them down back aswell?) Waite can also go back now

I have my concerns but i do every year and someone always pops up

As a 'speculator', would Membrey or Cam McCarthy be the better option?
With Patton out and Boyd gone, there might be a spot for McCarthy alongside Jeremy Cameron and Paul Stewart (for example)?
On Membrey, where would he stand in the pecking order with Riewoldt, Spencer White, Tom Lee and McCartin?

I'm stuck.

Bontempelli as a FWD, yes or no?
He's been in and out of my pre-season team about 400 times.

I dont think people here can help you. He is a massive risk that could be amazing or you will be carrying a player at his price. He is one of those players you need a gut feel, watch him over pre-season and make a judgement.

There are a lot of "safe" opinions on big footy. He is a player I say trust your gut.

I have been looking at Fantasy prices, I am going to start with a cash cow forward line. I see the most value in rookies there. There are a lot of juicy options at the top of the list Swan, Goddard, Smith, Franklin, Lids, Gray, ..... but will mids like nakia, heeney, brayshaw, actually earn that much money over there premium price?
