I would of thought they would say $3 per week if it was per week but who knows with the herald sun. But i'm in the same boat as you, hoping they will still have the $20 once off payment. I don't need or want a subscription
Confirmed on the Hun, SCGold will be $19.95

First time supercoach here and this has probably been asked already, but when does the competition open?
Also what are the main differences between SC and DT (always played DT til this year) other than the scoring system.
Cheers in advance.

30th, so this friday.
Main difference apart from scoring is trades are limited to 30, don't get two every week. Don't know enough about DT rules to comment on anything else.

From what I understand, SC has a lot more variables in play for a particular score, whereas in DT you get points purely (correct me if I'm wrong) on the amount and effectiveness on kicks, handballs, mark etc. In SC champion data's scoring system tries to measure the 'influence' of a particular player on a game which is based off more variables than DT if that makes sense. Also in SC the final quarters (and especially final minutes) in some games do attract a far larger weighting (e.g. a winning goal can attract 30+ points).

There's also links to a handy read up by one of the guys at Champion Data here

Just a quick question. How many punters on here play for the main prize? I play 5 leagues and pretty much try and pick the best side in any event whilst trying to win the leagues I am in.

Not having submitted a team aimed at winning the weekly or overall prize is there a different strategy used when playing this way?

Overall prize players tend to try and complete their teams (and by definition, exhaust their trades) earlier on in order to have a full compliment of premium players with a few emergency trades left over (if they're lucky) as early as possible, league players tend to be more conservative with their trading. I'm sure that there are other differences but since I only play for overall, that's the main one I have noticed.

Other than the above some league players are happy to tank one of the bye rounds

Clearly someone missed the "read before posting" thread??

Don't know if anyone else saw this, it was hidden in the fine print of the Hun's SuperCoach prices article.

"SuperCoach Cup only open to top 32,768 ranked news network subscribers (during Round 5)."

Not sure what they mean by "subscribers". They didn't enable the comments this time after the confusion with SCGold pricing last night, but I'm hoping it means everyone, not just newspaper subscribers.

Anyhow, if the cup starts round 6 and skips the byes it'll finish round 23.

pieman123 came second last season, but he was still well behind the leader which probably soothes the angst a little.
Yeh mixed emotions, since 1st had it sewn up for a while it wasn't as bad as losing by a few points. :(Helping the league come 1st overall helped soothe the pain as well. :)

It means exactly what it says on the tin. Not free players, not SC Gold subscribers, only those who pay for the news site itself. The same goes for the bigger weekly prizes.
Seems like a pretty scummy move.

Also, has anyone heard anything about Draft? Will it be opening on Friday too? it tends to open a few weeks after, think the format would work much better if the draft could be held before NAB cup. A friend said they saw that it was opening at the same time but I couldn't find any backing.

Normally the same day. Both regular and draft NRL SC opened earlier this week.

Really? Could of sworn last year the draft wasn't actually able to be held as soon as it opened, hope I'm wrong.
Playing draft with mates can be much more fun than regular.

Seems reasonable to me. Those who subscribe and provide the HUN with a revenue stream are entitled to win that money back and then some. Can't win Tattslotto without buying a ticket either.
