There is no denying Dellavedova has been a difference maker this series. Who could have seen that coming? #NBAFinals
— Scottie Pippen (scottiepippen)

Delly has arrived!!

This guy could make NBA huge in Aus again at this rate.

When was the last time NBA was headlining the news.

Front page of Herald Sun, Fox Sports, even the Age arsewits have a smallish blurb on it on their front page.

NBA is already huge in Australia.

You just have to walk down the street in the city and you see so many people wearing NBA apparel

Australia has the highest NBA game pass subscription anywhere in the world (outside of the US)

Remember 2 Aussies got rings last year (Mills and Baynes).

There are thousands of people doing NBA fantasy these days (myself included)

We have the highest subscription probably because unlike most of Europe, South America or Asia, we get at max 2 games a week on foxtel during the regular season. Basketball will never be close to what it was in the 90s in Aus where local NBL games would sell out 15k arenas.

I find Basketball even at the very highest standard a borefest for the most part. I'll watch the final minute of a playoff game because it's there on my pay TV subscription now and then, only if there isn't any re-runs of 20 year old sitcoms that I've watched 20 times already or documentaries about the fine art of soft cheese making.

Good to know man. I rate top level basketball as a sport superior to aussie rules both in terms of its tactics/strategy (aussie rules really is a dumb sport in comparison to it and to other sports like soccer or gridiron) and in terms of skill.
In fact cheese making would be a better watch than an average afl game these days. I wouldn't bother watching non Carlton games if it weren't for supercoach.

Why watch the whole game though? You only really need to watch the last 2 minutes of any basketball game.

Half the people wearing jerseys dont even know who the players are.

NBA is Australia is nothing today compared to what it was when I was growing up.

TheOz hit the nail on the head regarding subscriptions, without them in Australia you wont get to watch a game, so any fan has to have it. Im in the Philippines at the moment and they have 2 channels free to air dedicated to NBA, and one that splits between the local leagues and NBA live games. There is no need for any subscriptions here.

If NBA was as popular now as it was in the 90's it will be played live on free to air like it use to be.

Im not saying its forgotten but even Mills and Baynes coulnd;t get front page news last year, Delly has done more in this finals campaign for NBA in Australia then Mills, Baynes, Bogut, Exum, Ingles did for the season combined.

Cant agree with you there, love watching NBA, but nothing compares to AFL for me.

It is up there with any sport regarding skill and tactics, if different to any other sport, so you cant really compare it. What you enjoy watching more is your own opinion, but for me there is just as much tactics in AFL as there is in soccer, NFL and NBA.

Can't agree, American Football is a coaches game, Aussie Rules doesn't even compare to the complexity of strategy in that sport (having said that, imo it's a poor spectator sport due to it being a sequence of set plays incorporating stoppages all the time). Basketball whilst being more fluid still utilises play calling heavily and there is nothing like the different tactical formations and strategies as employed in soccer.

NFL is very tactical but you cant compare it to AFL.

AFL is organised chaos compared to soccer and NFL because there is no offside, players can essentially do what they want, the only thing stopping them is their role, so I would say the coaches have a fair bit of say.

But like you said, the sheer amount of stoppages and the influence coaches have in stoppages in NBA and NFL makes them more involved.

Im not saying that AFL is just a free for all, it does have a set of tactics these days that would have been unheard of 20 odd years ago, however it isn't a sport that is particularly complex strategy wise. It also seems to be a sport that can be picked up relatively easily by athletes of various other sports (steeple chaing, gaelic football etc.) in their adult years, I doubt a steeple chaser would ever be able to be given a basketball or soccer ball and make it professionally at a high level only a couple of seasons later.

AFL is unique, and takes a lot of skills that are found in other sports and amalgamates them, which is why its easier to adapt too.

One of the key factors in AFL is fitness, endurance and speed. If someone has that they can learn the other skills.

Blicavs isn't the best kick, mark, handball, tackle, or any other facet of the game, but he has elite endurance.

He is one of the most improved players because he is improving on the areas of the game that eluded him when he crossed over from the steeple chase.

Given the amount of roles and how much they vary its easy to bring in players from other sports as they have a unique skill that can be applied to certain parts of the game, the difference between someone like Blicavs and someone like Begley, is that Blicavs has adapted better and built his more AFL specific skills rather than just relying on his skill from other sports.

I get what your saying, and your right there is far less tactics employed during the game in AFL then most other sports, simply because there are no stoppages, but watching the runners bust around the ground shows there is still plenty of involvement from the coaching panel, just not directly.

I just dont think AFL can be compared to alot of other sports because it is so fundamentally different. Also, I love it, best sport in the world as far as im concerned.

Ok well I think I've ****ed my SC account. Tried to sign up for SC gold but entered a different email address than the one on my account. Long story short messed around with settings and put a typo when changing the email address on my SC account. So now I'm stuck with:

1. Have SC gold on a random email not associated with my SC account and;

2. Can't access my actual SC account because I made a typo in the email and it won't accept it. Can't reset password because the email is not real and thus can't be accessed. So I'm locked out.

Sent some emails so hopefully hear back but not hopeful.

Tldr: Don't do shit when tired.

Support is actually pretty good

I don't need enlightening. Hence the winky emoticon at the end of my question.
Ditto :p

Cavs looking in all sorts today.

James hasn't been able to assert himself since he took that knock from Bogut, not a good sign.
