lol , people still read the sport section of the newspaper?

I don't read any of it at $365 a year.
I could nearly register my car for the same cost as reading a half a dozen articles a week on that Adelaide now site. Do they think people can't add up.

It's a rip off for the content.

Plus if you wanted to look at the articles go in "Incognito mode" on google chrome

Haha, I saw the little jibe at the end about Pyke not granting an interview with The Advertiser, can clearly see the motivation behind the article now!
It's not the first time I've seen an article in the Advertiser where they've complained about the Crows not allowing them to interview Pyke. It's a bit petulant to be honest.

I'm sure he was dead against us wearing the state Guernsey and yet claims we've turned our back on our heritage. SA football needs to move on from this bloke, he's straight up irrelevant.
Nah cornesy was for us wearing it.

Well stuff me. I've just worked it out.
I guess iOS 9.2 won't let you stay logged in? I've never noticed this before that when you pull up the keyboard to relog in above the predictive text bar on the left it says passwords and auto fills your saved password.
Still a ******* pain in the arse though.
Something else is going on, I'm on 9.2 and no change

Apart from the Don Pyke comment anyone that disagrees with Cornes has their head firmly entrenched in the sand. Port are killing us off the field.
Whatever, have you seen our 12 days of Christmas? Pure genius!

Luckily though we have "chant school" and the "12 days of xmas" as our secret weapons.

Are they?

A cheesy Christmas Carol will not make us have our first crowd at AO under 40k at AO next year. Something that Port have done on eight occasions in the past 2 years, and yet they are "killing" us?

They have done well to bring "back" the supporters who dropped off in the five years they were a real joke, but they still have a fair bit more work to do before they are the real number one club in our state.

The celebration of their raw membership number being better than ours is akin to holidaying in Bali taking $100AUD from your account and proclaiming you are now a millionaire because you have a million Rupiah in your pocket.

They have a great marketing team that do well to create that false sense that they are superior to us. When the reality is both clubs have achieved the exact same thing on field as each other in the past four years. And those results are far from the AFL elite clubs and are middle of the road.

remember the first rule of chant school....:)

I thought we had a person from liverpool fc heading up our marketing team? We really need to start walloping these crumbs off the field and start doing more club/school visits handing out free merchandise and junior memberships. When you get the kids involved you get the parents involved too. Our marketing team really needs to step up and deliver. Port know their demographic, they know a big majority of their fans cant afford a 12 game membership. This is why they have so many 3 game members and 100,000 members:confused:

Cornes' article and the subsequent reaction from Port sycophants is everything I hate about the SA rivalry. Any excuse to try and take a shit over our club and big note themselves. It always ends with some dig about us not being real supporters and not supporting a club that's a billion years old too:rolleyes:.

The main gist of it was based on recent events. Port's week was good but not earth shattering. They resigned three good players who were never going anywhere and a signing for a team that doesn't exist. They are good at making a big deal of these things though.

No one has overtaken anyone and both clubs are positioned pretty evenly. Both clubs can argue they are "number one" using different measures so neither club can say they're clearly, objectively number one.

It's all just a pointless dick-measuring contest anyway because the only true measure is premierships. Neither has won one of those lately. It's even until that time.

#lolCornes is at it again! Stirring the pot by saying Port smash the Crows all year around by having 50,000+ members by Christmas.

Ahh Old Balls Cornes, you never cease to amuse me, you know that? By your logic results from this year matter little because we got more pet memberships than the Camries!!1!11!

But we'll blindside that barley 50% of those 'loyal fans' actually turn up to the games when they play shit and yet we still rack up 50k to a game outside the 8 (i.e vs Melbourne in 2014 - and you're telling me we are the 2nd best). But that doesn't matter does it? Hence why you had to use a picture of the 'loyal fans' from the 2014 Choke Final than this year because searching for an equivalent scenario from their shit 2015 season doesn't exist

As Archie said, it's just a major, pathetic, ego boosting, dick measuring contest. When in actuality, the nation laughs at Poorts' antics. And not to mention you too Old Balls, you can personally GAGF. Try not to swallow Kochs dick.

I still beleive we should be trying to create 1 bit of excitement (positive publicity) per week for the entire off season.

We needed to make a BIG DEAL out of the women's side and signing Jane Woodlands-Thompson as the best women's coach in South Australia and the fact that Brad Crouch being fit.

Back in August, September - the club should have been forward planning. Getting 1 or 2 player contracts activated, major or even minor sponsorship (Titan protein bars should have been pumped up big time), any other good news stories could be released as well. They should do it, just to keep the club getting spoken about in the media. Have out club getting spoken about and then make them work bloody harder to create their own publicity - instead of getting a free ride with a 1 year extension to two players who were never leaving and 1 girl who will never even play a game.

We gave them a massive free kick.

And it's not to entice the current member, they have made their mind up already. It's to entice that person who wants to enjoy football but has never gone to a game before.

Over the past 10 years, we have gone from being a very dominate force to breaking even.

what a bizzare article. I'm not saying Port haven't recovered well, it just seems 12 months too late.

Was thinking the same thing reading it.

Cornes has lost the plot. Not long after Pyke was appointed Cornes was on 5AA saying he didn't think Pyke was a good fit for coach as he didn't think he really "loved" football to the same extent Walsh did. He's also come out with that stupid article about women playing football "not looking right". I genuinely think he's lost the plot, or he's just being told by the Advertiser to stir the pot as much as possible. Either way he is irrelevant.

This state desperately needs some new columnists writing stories about AFL. Rucci, McDermott, Cornes etc etc are all woefully bad.

Agree that we should be a little more strategic and bullish with our announcements.

Could part of the issue he that we currently have the local rag on ignore ?
