2015 Premiership Ladder

AFC979810 Looks like Richmond finishing in the top 4 could actually happen.... Which is ****ing disgusting if you ask me.

Again I do not think they are a top 4 side. They have 2 good KPP players in Riewoldt and Rance, which is supported by a handful of midfielders that carry the rest of the team.

It's just too bad that every other side is crumbling around them to actually be in a strong ladder position and Richmond are capitalising. Swans, who saw that coming. Not sure what Freo are doing, expected such a well drilled side to pride themselves on their defence, but at the same time their forward line is really struggling at the moment. Age seems to be catching up with North quicker than they thought. None of their youngsters are firing STILL and their list looks so middle of the road. Geelong, well age has certainly caught up with them big time.

Port Adelaide....pffft. Being so anti-port sometimes you try so hard not to be biased and you over-compensate. Should have listened to my original thoughts and not tried to overthink things.

Who would have seen the injury list coming for the Gold Coast. And Ealges I'll stick my hand up, didnt see this. Simpson has aboslutely nailed their game plan and they've finally got a pretty decent bill of health. Yes they lost Emac which was big, and Mitch Brown which was meh, but most importantly their midfield is fit and firing along with Nic Nat.

Eagles look like the only team that can go remotely close to Hawks. It's those 2 and then a crap shoot:confused:

And the great man said this would be the most equal season of AFL we have most likely seen. He's pretty much correct you know. Have Hawks at the top and then you may as well throw a blanket over the next 10 teams after that. Say what you want about the eagles, but I don't think most saw this coming.

**** I miss you Walshy

I've got us needing to beat Geelong at Simmons Stadium (to finish 7th) after that. If not we finish 9th or 10th.
Interesting that on afl360, they had us winning 2/5 games, dropping Richmond & weagles at home & cats on the last round.

Had cats in 7th with the last round being the difference & Roos in 8th only 2 points above us.

Therefore if we can find a 3rd win/5 we are likely to sneak in. Think it needs to be this week or weagles at home. Hopefully they have a smash up derby!

We can still sneak in...

Do we want to sneak in if we aren't good enough to beat teams above us?

Yes!!!! Don't care if we lose first round but I'm sick and tired of not making finals

I think it's worse to make them and then end up as the Carlton of this year.
Also, you only have to look at West Coast's match against us late last year (very frustrating) to see them coming this year: I did.

I don't believe in the concept of it's better to not make it at all rather than make it and lose by 10+ goals...

We can sneak in, of course, but we're unlikely to. Our most likely win out of the three is the Cats at home; presuming their form stays off we're a 50/50 and I suppose that's a big presumption. If we win against Richmond tomorrow night we'll be fine, but that's unlikely.

Yes every game starts 50/50 and all the other shallow one liners but we're talking about real probabilities. With the exception of North Melbourne in round one we have not come close to beating a top eight side. The AFC are an 8-10th side, that's just what we are at the moment and it's why we look poo even when we're beating a bottom eight side. By any stretch of the imagination we are not likely to beat Richmond (6th, playing like a top four side) or West Coast (top two side) at home. We are just not that good.

I just want to win every game we play. If we are good enough we play Finals. If not we don't.

Our best footy can beat everyone of the last five sides we face.

The flipside is that the worst footy we have played this year is also capable of losing the next five.

Richmond got smashed last year in the Final they played here. Port humiliated them.

But the story of both sides could not be different this year. One club had their egos fed expected the mere acquisition of Ryder would mean Premiership success. Then spent more time worrying about being leaders in prematch entertainment. The other worked on making their footy side harder to beat.

WE HAVE TO MAKE FINALS. Its a must. I want the experience that build up to a big elimination final at the G against Richmond or the Bulldogs. So many Crows fan will make the trip over, warm barmy September day at the G, hopefully a traditional Saturday arvo time slot.
This is what players like Danger want.. big time games. we just have to jag 3 wins out of the next 5 to make it! 12.5 wins should be enough!

Finally someone talking some bloody sense!! Thank you agree 100% with all of that...

I remember in 07 I think it was when we played the Hawks in Melbourne and Buddy was the difference but games like that are a must, love that type of footy and our run begins tomorrow night

I went to that 07 game against the Hawks.. worst feeling ever after that game. I was heartbroken. we should never have lost that game.
Dream would be to get the bulldogs in a elim final at the G.. they would be ripe for the picking IMO. IF this is a big IF, if we somehow pull off an upset against Richmond I think we are home and hosed for a top 8 birth.

It was a terrible loss just like when we lost to the pies in the semi at the G and the Hawks in the prelim there also. Don't seem to have the best track record at the G but it's where you wanna be at in September

Our best footy can beat everyone of the last five sides we face.

I hate this philosophy which gets thrown around a lot in football (even by coaches and players at press conferences) because it's a false logic. It goes like this; we beat the best team (or top four team) for one quarter, or patches of quarters of multiple quarters or whatever. Therefore our best footy can beat the best team or top four side and we're just not doing it consistently or for the whole game. Our best footy is good enough.

What the premise fails to take into consideration is that the opposing team might not have been playing their best footy when we were winning. So the question is, is our best footy good enough against their best footy? You think our best footy is as good as Sydney, Hawthorn, West Coast, Fremantle's best footy? I don't. It might be better than less than their best but it won't beat their best. We're just not that good, and we've gaping holes in our list.

I'm inclined to agree that even if we got pumped in an elimination final, we'd be better for it. Richmond were humiliated last September and now look like they are responding well.

This is not 2014, in which a finals appearance might have led to complacency and the retention of Sando. We are under a caretaker coach and this club has gone through a tragic hell. I say, go for broke. We should try our best to make the eight, and try our guts out in the elimination final.

Haha this is just looking more and more awkward on my behalf as the season goes on.

But at the start of the year, I looked at Richmond and saw Rance and Riewoldt. Around them were other talls Griffiths, Vickery, Grimes, Batchelor etc. Even you would admit surely that those players listed had a lot of work ahead of themselves if Richmond were going to be a top 4 side. You would not have thought that Riewoldt and Rance could do it all themselves in their respective 50s.

But also, your midfield has seriously stepped up another gear this year and is looking like a unit that teams will want to emulate. The return of Deledio and Grigg to full fitness has been huge, Miles has stepped up yet again and Cotchin is looking closer to his best form every week.

I honestly thought you guy's just didn't have the improvement in you to be this much of a better side in comparison to last year's performances.

Yeah I somewhat agree. But I feel our 2nd tier players are underrated by opposition supporters I.e. Vlaustin, B.Ellis, Batchelor, Grimes, Chaplin, Miles, Houli, Grigg and now Conca. No longer a team choc full of duds.

We should finish in the top 8 now, particularly if we keep our percentage. Geelong is who we'll probably be fighting with for a spot, and if we lose to them we'll probably only stay in the 8 on percentage over Geelong. I've got us at 6th if we beat Geelong.

We have a better draw than Geelong

Geelong play Sydney, Hawthorn, Collingwood than us

Yeah I think there's every chance that Geelong may have to beat us by 5 goals ish to knock us out of the 8.
Everyone will have the calculators out...could be like Premier League last day stuff
