Updating a previous item, 49ers OLB Aldon Smith was arrested on DUI, hit-and-run and vandalism charges Thursday night in Santa Clara County.

Some people never change. Smith has been an off-field mess the past couple years, and this isn't his first drunk-driving incident. You have to be a special kind of stupid to get arrested on these kinds of charges during training camp. Now likely staring at lengthy suspension, Smith won't be counted on by the 49ers. They'll likely move forward with Aaron Lynch and Ahmad Brooks on the outside.

Jets waived-injured DB Antonio Allen.

Allen blew out his Achilles' on Thursday and is done for the season. He'll head to season-ending injured reserve once he clears waivers. Allen will be a free agent next offseason, but should be ready in time for spring practices.
