Thats very true but of those 3 only Geelong had average KPP and even then their KPD and ruckman were elite. Outside of Hogan and McDonald who holds up that Melbourne team?

We can focus on drafting mids early and dont have to worry about paying out for a KPP from here on!

Because 60% of the top 20 draftees are mids.

pick 14 will be a mid.
next year's 1st rounder will be a mid.

Add that to Steven, armo, dunstan, billings, newnes, freeman, weller, ross, sinclair ect thats a pretty decent potential midfield going forward.

If you had said to me at the start of the trade period we would end up with:

Carlisle
Freeman
Rice
And keep a pick in the first round, I would have jumped at it.

After all, it was touted early doors that we wanted 5 for jc and 23 so we could trade 2 second rounders for pick 14. We achieved that.

Set aside the desire to hurt dodo, we have done well. And let's just see what magic Ameet still has in store for us!

freeman is next years crop- we get him now but we take a pick out of a strong draft. The potential of a Luke Dunstan, Goddard, Mc Kenzie etc.

Well at 14 I think you can because they are much of a muchness. There will be a bees in it if you want there to be. Say a CHB was available that you rated 14 and you look at our list and cant find a spot for him for 5 years then why go there. Id rather pick a 17th best player that may play day one.
