Tunbridge probably would have been in the team v Bulldogs if not suspended, offers more than Hill for example.
I know Hill is a popular whipping boy here, justifiably at times, but Tunbridge needs to perform at a higher level on a consistent basis before he comes close to offering more than Hill

I can picture this:

Eagles training, 1:18pm.

Drew Petrie's name flashes across the screen as our third pick in the RD. Vozzo gives the nod to Smith, who signals with light reflected off a mirror to the nearby trees.

Petrie, having seen the signal, runs out from his hiding spot in full kit, and then seemlessly joins into the drill. Everyone acts as if he had been there all day.

Minutes later he is seen doing the Frank the Tank move after slotting a goal, much to the mirth of the lads.
Lol'd

You can only be a whipping boy if you play regularly in seniors.

Otherwise too many to be whipping boys.

I understand why we are going to rookie list him due to his contract situation

I don't understand why if he's still on the list we take Petrie

At least there's some small hope that McInnes can recapture and build on the form he showed in 2015 when Darling was injured. He regressed badly in 2016 though
Our development of most players last year dropped right off compared to 2015 for some reason?

This is true, most players went backwards last year, some alarmingly so

The club doesn't give a **** about East. Why waste a rookie spot on a bloke who is mid 30's and going to play in our "development" team?
Maybe because they realise how shit our second tier players at EP are. There's no one to teach them. No experience or leadership. It's like Melbourne when they had young captains

Haha I can actually picture that happening

I think it's fair to say that player development in general at EP last year was an abject failure , hence the need for coaching changes with in the alignment. The rumblings had been there, so good to see WC act , I am just not sure the sideways move of the Senior Coach is a good thing.

Player development requires a specific set of skills and it's hard to get the teaching / instructions right as you need to be able to deliver a different style of message depending on the personality and make up of the individual your working with. What works for one kid won't work with another and visa versa.
That's tricky but it's such a vital part of any Clubs success and progression going forward .

Quick question. What coaching role do you guys think Petrie will perform at WCE once he retires? I can only think of teaching our players new ways to celebrate goals. Can't be the ruck coach because we have one of the greatest of all time already in the coaching panel. Somebody like Lecras (once he retires) would be way better as a forward coach.

I reckon Cox might leave to spread his wings and they'll replace him with Petrie.

Can never have too many ex-Norfs in the coaching panel

Where a coach played does not affect where he coaches. For eg sumich is a very good midfield coach.
