Horrific run home.

Nah we play our best footy in the second half of the year.

Beyond the bye with so many Melbourne games if we are truly in the hunt it is going to be brilliant.

If we are not it will be shit house for a whole bunch of other reasons.

Really think this fixture lets us take our fate in our own hands.

we have 8 home games at Ethiad, unless i am counting wrong?
You're right

Crows - finalist
Freo - Finalist
Dogs - Finalist
Carlton - shithouse
Hawks - premier
Power - ok
Saints - shithouse
Giants - shithouse

Fixture starts out quite soft, but they back half of the season is tough with little in the way of gimme games.

Double ups of Sydney, Hawthorn, Adelaide, Bulldogs, aren't great.

Certainly a great fixture exposure wise.
I'd rather be playing some good sides in the lead up to the finals than easy beats.

Week off after round 23

Not a great fan of this, although with the whole Vic / Non-Vic issue it is probably the fairest way. I don't actually think it will always remove the "issue" of this year though. If we had a week off we would still have rested players and brought in depth guys. We needed to see who else could perform if needed in the finals and had nothing to gain from a win.

At face value the double ups are good for us.

Dogs
Hawks
Saints
Crows
Swans

Personally not sure the Dogs will do as well. Saints improving but we should be well ahead of them. Crows dangerous (but also dangerless).

Swans even with Buddy back are looking a touch more fragile recently for mine and I wouldn't be surprised to see them slide. Hawks - who the hell knows, they just keep rolling on.

I'm happy... 2 games up here in the first 5 weeks.

but... there is a stretch of games that look seriously tough.

Why do we play Richmond in Tassie? it's our one chance of actually making money at Etihad.

You can't have everything I guess. Yes, the stretch looks tough, but it is later in the year and it seems we can "ease" into the season (very unlike this year was). We have to play the better teams at some point, I don't mind it this way, should get us battle ready for finals.

We probably would have just rested players who really needed it. 1 week off is good, 2 weeks might be too much already.
