It might be another 145 years before a former player is loathed like Chappy again

I pity that campaigner Chaplin, he isn't a bad person he is just a complete ****.

I have hatred for Stevens because of the sort of person he is. It began with the way he left us and ended well we all know.

You can't compare the two. Whatever Chaplin has said or done or continues to say and do he should never be compared to that human filth.

What's the viewpoint on D. Pearce
Me? Or the wider consensus here?
Personally I sadly respected what Chappy and Pearce did in moving on, I think the captain who goes down with the ship is insane and we were the Titanic in 2012.
I have personal reasons for liking Pearce. A friend who taught him in high school spoke glowingly of him. And when I was involved in junior football there were a couple of promotional things the club did where Danyle was brilliant with the kids. He loved being an AFL footballer, his happiness back then was infectious. As a player he was always hovering on the edge of being very good but even at Freo has never got there.
As far as the BF Port board goes I really don't recall seeing any vitriol towards Pearce at all.

Yea I agree on Stevens but that's more real life hate than football hate, Chappy pissed off more people while he was here and of course the way he left than any other I can think of in pure football hatred.

That's the point

*Chaplin was an underperforming finger pointing "line in the sand drawing" big talk no action pita while he was here and had the gall to call others out in a parting shot when he was the biggest turd in the punchbowl himself.

I reckon Wines will leave at some point, and I'm totally at peace with that.
At which point people will be saying as they are with Hartlett now, we should have acted while he had currency.

BTW I'm not advocating Wines leave, I just have a bee in my bonnet about people who keep posting we try to trade players not even we want but refuse to consider trading of players we can get something for.

... Chaplin was an underperforming finger pointing "line in the sand drawing" big talk no action pita while he was here ....
No he wasn't. He was one of our better players, and he was an on-field leader. He was a significant loss.

His initial comment wasn't about others at Port but about more opportunity for success elsewhere. It was pretty innocuous but continually gets exaggerated and used as as excuse to 'pile on' with posts about him. The comments he made before the 2014 EF were something different, and from that point on I've had no problems with him being picked on here.

Silly season has well and truly started

Is that what it is?

I wondered why I was running around my house naked with pink and blue body paint on my nipples singing I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts at the top of my voice.

When does it end?

Kennett saying Hawks are so ahead of the rest due to their 'clinical' list management. I guess Port is the antithesis of that. No wonder we are flailing. I see Freo have traded aggressively this off season, sure helped bottoming out at the right time.

From memory we didn't get pissy at Pearce because Freo offered him a ludicrous contract that we couldn't match. His hand was forced - gave his family financial security forever.

I think I actually forced his hand. Back around 2011 I found him, shopping basket in hand, looking with slight distress at the wide range of feminine hygiene products in a local supermarket. He was making a phone call to get advice on what to buy, clearly having been sent out without adequate instruction. Our eyes met and with no words he obviously knew that now another man had seen him like this Adelaide was too small for him to stay.

Has somebody hacked your account Powerstufff? Chaplin was a significant loss who left with dignity and we should trade Ollie Wines. Dearie me.
