Hard to tell. He didn't call from the trainer at any time but he was walking around the court pretty slowly and I noticed he didn't take his full time at the change of ends, probably not wanting to cool down too much.
Interesting. Watched him play yesterday and whilst he was hitting the ball well, looked a bit ginger...

Exactly how he looked today. Noticed he flexed his right leg a few times which made me think it was something around the hip/groin area. Seemed a bit frustrated too which is always a sign something is amiss. A shame as I was hoping he'd bag this Challenger title to consolidate his ranking coming towards the end of the year. Credit to Moriya though, he was playing pretty solid tennis.

It has been a good year but the injuries are a bit of a worry. This is the third tournament he has had to pull out of due to injuries (another Challanger and an ATP 250 event IIRC). In all these he had a chance to do really well and I can't help thinking if he hadn't had these niggles he might be pushing top 50 by now. Still I suppose injuries are part of sport and at least he has not had anything serious this year. I expect he will do well here over the summer as he really benefits from the local crowds cheering him on, seems to lift him to another level.

With the exception of Whittington who is playing a Challenger in China, all Australians playing this week are playing the Challenger in Traralgon. It is a very very weak Challenger field so a good chance to get some points.

Saville beats Nishioka

Since he's not playing in Canberra I'm wondering why Nishioka came all the way down under for this then as he was a late entrant and went through qualies  There was a challenger going on in China.

There are 2 Challengers in Japan after Canberra.

ASH Barty will return from a bone stress injury in her right arm this week in a $50,000 tournament in Bendigo that will start to shape her summer of tennis prospects.

Barty rested her arm for several weeks since she lost the final of Tennis Australia’s US Open wildcard playoff series in mid-August.

INJURY put an end to the much-anticipated clash between No.1 seed Risa Ozaki and young Australian star Ash Barty at the Bendigo International on Wednesday.

Barty was forced to withdraw after suffering an arm injury in the warm-up, ending her campaign before it began.

Nishioka was due to play the Thailand Challenger scheduled for next week that was cancelled due to the death of the countries king. My guess is he is probably borderline direct entry for the Australian Open so couldn't afford to miss two weeks.

He might sign up for qualifying in Canberra as a late entrant?

World No.97 Yoshihito Nishioka from Japan was struggling with illness on Monday and was unsure if he would play his round one match against Sydney's Greg Jones on Tuesday.

As expected, Nishioka has withdrawn.
