Yep. I really rate Parfitt. Coming into the year I would have had him in my top 5 maybe top 3. He is an elite talent imo. The only issue I really have with him is he lacks a little height. Offensively he is a lot like Christensen I think.

He nearly won the Nicholls Medal (NTFL Version of Brownlow Medal) at age of 16. Shows how much ability the kid has.

We do still need some outside class and polish. Basically another Hanley, someone with a little bit of toe, doesn't need to be lightning, but can't be slow. Someone who can carry the ball and deliver cleanly inside 50. Also need another genuine ball winning clearance inside mid and a good rebounding defender. Credit to Harwood, thought he was good last week. Although outside of Cutler i still get the feeling we are 'making do' for running defenders. Considering we want to play a run and gun style of play, a lot of our scoring will come from HB winning the ball back in defense or locking the ball in our forward line. I think we have good talent up forward to crumb and apply pressure, and we have some smart tall defenders who are good at chopping any quick kicks out of our forward line. We still need a damaging player who can really set up some scoring chains from defense, pick the right options and effectively move the ball from defense.

Personally I do not rate the running defenders this year that highly. Guys like Berry will get a fair bit of it but I think lack the class I would like.

Rolls will play as a small defender and is a great kick. Allison might also start at the back and would be a good option back there in the short term.

Excellent, with Keays starting his career forward i was hoping Allison might be able to start behind the ball.

With the likes of Paps, Cutler and Allison as our 'running' defenders, our back 6 will be incredibly tall. Harro, McStay, Paps, Gardiner as the defender types, Allison and Cuts the rebounders. Pretty sure Gardiner is the shortest at 191ish.

For the first time this year i actually just had a read about some of the players, and he is one that stuck out to me. Going only by a short paragraph of his play style obviously, but sounds like the kind of player i feel we need in our midfield mix. When i look at drafting midfields, i'm looking post Rich/Hanley/Zorko/Rocky/Beams, the guys that will be our core midfield in 5-6 years. We very well might have a few of our current guns still playing, if we are that lucky then they should be the cherry on top, not the lynch pin of our midfield.

Update on my previous post:

My little brother (another die-hard Lions supporter) goes to school with a couple of the WA state team guys (Waterman and Goddard). Tonight he went to Jakes' 18th birthday party and had a half hour one-on-one chat with Sam Petrevski-Seton. Apparently he's an absolutely awesome bloke - really charismatic, my brother said he reminded him of Rocky. Sam wasn't drinking either, which is a good sign of professionalism at his age.

Want to know the best part? He literally said "I want to play for Brisbane". So yeah, we've got a likely top-5 draft pick that actually wants to play for us; and he's all the way from Halls Creek! Let's make it happen.

petrevski-seton is a serious talent from the reviews/phantom drafts i have seen, it is likely IMO we finish with a first pick between 3 and 6 so may miss out on the option to pick him anyway, unless he sooks up his draft interviews and says i only want to go to the lions- improbable. as a mayes ing says will brodie may be a better fit for us at this stage.

There is a difference between being a Lions supporter and wanting to come to the club though. Schache and Petrevski-Seton are both on record as saying they'd like to play for the Lions.

Another little update: Sam said the club he 'least' wants to go to is Freo. Not sure if he just dislikes the team or the recruiters have put him off, but this is a bit of good news when Freo look likely to finish around us on the ladder. Sam also said that Brisbane's list manager is coming to Perth to see him in the near future.

Looks like SPS is serious and not following some PR stunt that most youngster tell when talking to AFL recruiters/media. Especially if he openly talks about it at a friends 18th.

FWIW, we're going to be visiting a lot of young players. He's currently, top 5 on our list.

Edit: I've currently got him at #12. I want to see some more consistency and and some sort of inside game before having him higher, which he is currently lacking big time.
