List Mgmt. 2016 Draft - It was on last Friday.

All depends what pick we get really, I imagine Carlton will finish below us and are most likely to snap up Will Brodie who is the best inside mid in the draft.

But we need too draft for needs at the stage we are in, not necessarily for the best available talent. That Moves Ben Ainsworth out of the picture for mine (Don't need a small forward, just let Rioli develop and Edwards is still around for a while).

I would be hoping for Jonty Scharanberg or Sam Powell - Pepper at this stage, but a lot will change.

Don't see the point in keeping our first rounder this year or next. After Hooker Compo and Academies, our pick will once again be 12. The new system is going to end up really punishing clubs like us, Norf, Port ect... unless you get some F/S prospects.

Next year we've got Naish who early running might be a 1st rounder so may as well exploit the system and get rid of it so we can use 2nd and 3rd rounders to get him, before the AFL realise it screws up equalisation and takes the opportunity away from us.

Getting in early... predicting another 500 pages of this thread before season's finish.
Can we please ban from the outset the player descriptions; "silk", "cream-on-top", "need a small forward", "great outside runner", "the complete package" and so on !?!?!

I've got a feeling that we'll trade our first round pick this year. The club has always stated that they invested heavily in the draft a couple years ago. That coupled with us trying and failing to get an A grade talent (apologies Yarran) in the last few years makes me think we'll trade it (maybe with a future pick) to get an A grader. I may be wrong. But I certainly get this impression.

Nat Fyfe. Deals already done

You won't be saying that when Richo enters into a polyamorous relationship with Lauren Jackson and Sally Pearson, producing ruckman through to rovers with the surname Jackson-Pearson-Richardson.

One likes boys and one likes girls (allegedly, and not that there's anything wrong with that)...

Just need an incentive for them to copulate :D

You've effectively killed the thread

FYI- Most clubs aren't too excited for the draft this year (similar to last year)- I'm sure we'll look at giving up our first rounder for a good player, but this draft isn't one for the ages! + We had Patrick Naish next year who should be there about Top 30.

You would have him top 30? That's good to hear, I was told he wasn't a superstar so was assuming it was more wishful thinking on our part that we might have a F/S rather then him being a genuine good prospect

There abouts around the 30 mark for me- If the draft was today (still a long way to go til then, but he showed some really nice signs in the Vic Metro praccy game)

These academy selections are a complete joke. Vic clubs are being bent over[/QUOTE]

There is no disrespect intended nor am I doubting that you have been told this .
However I have found that people involved in recruiting who spend time discussing how a draft compares To another are floggers.
Over many years I have heard this draft is better or worst than this and that draft only for time to prove the exact opposite . Some consistently down sell drafts with the old this is the worst draft is some time B/S.
I concur that at times draft years are favoured to a type of player .
I think there'll be plenty to pick over by seasons end it just may be a draft like many that are more specific to a type of player . Unfortunately for RFC I think this draft will have plenty of outside mids and may have a few less afl ready inside mids .

I wish. But I think Fyfe is in the A++ category. I don't think we'll get an absolute superstar but rather a really solid star (A grade) player. I don't know who but I think RFC will try even harder than in previous years to acquire that sort of player. And by trying even harder I mean I think RFC will put first round draft picks and extra money (paying overs) on the table. I don't think they have been as willing (except with Treloar) to put these things on the table in past as I suspect they will be this off-season.
