Vlastuin is big bodied but was drafted as a HBF not a midfielder. Lennon is a forward who should push up into an midfielder and Corey Ellis was 74kg when drafted. What I'm wanting to see is a draftee come in that is a ready to go inside midfielder not someone who is going to come in and fill a void from the get go, not someone who will take a couple of seasons to come good.
What like Dustin Martin who dominated the inside game when he was 17 but Hardwick thought it best if he plays half back, half forward, full forward and outside mid.
Hardwick ruins potential. No matter whom we draft he'd play a Jack Viney as a back pocket. Gotta learn how to play a position you weren't meant to before I can trust you to play your normal position.

It it did require pick one, I don't think it has ever been traded (and why would you?).
But the sad fact is that I don't think pick 9 and Ellis would get that trade done.
Not that I am saying it would be a good idea to do it.
But I do agree we need to start getting some bonafide stars onto the list.

Think it was traded infamously by freo to hawks in 2001, hawks used it to pick hodge , freo got Trent croad. Who ended up back at hawthorn fr next to nothing a few years later. Was McPharlin involved somewhere along the line also ??

Spot on and people complaining about those they hoped would be playing in offensive roles or midfield need to understand it is due to the player that was drafted .
FJ has become well known for drafting back flankers or complete outside softy's .

We seriously have gone backwards with players we select and i know everybody will say its great in hindsight and all that but our recruiting/drafting has been atrocious apart from Lids,Jack,Martin,Cotchin,Bellis so far and im not going to include Miles as he was left to the last minute and pretty much begged us to take him.
If you go through the last 10 years of players that were on the table at our selections and to think that we have 0 A graders from there is pathetic. The names like Farnklin,Parker,Cripps,Heppell just continually haunt us with possibility's that were missed and the spuds that we take as 'Mature' Players are really just plugging holes with players that are not good enough.
Grigg,Maric & Houli aside which their clubs didnt want to let go the rest are just rubbish
Chaplin,Hunt,Hampson,Thomson,Thomas etc are just a waste of time . 2 years ago the player we needed the most was Mitch Robinson and he was a perfect fit for the role we needed to fill but our supposed no DH policy we went with Hunt who will never be good enough to tie robinson's shoe laces - I got killed by most on here for wanting Robinson and he would have been cheap as chips
Garlett was also free - What did our team need the most , A small foward so why didnt we take him - Ohh year Francis didnt rate him in his draft
Well as far as im concerned with that fool incharge we will never get players that will destroy the opposition and break games open
Conca,Cellis,Lennon,Vlastuin,Bellis etc are just foot soldiers thats all and we will constantly be between 6-13 team with this type of player drafting.recruiting

Yes and that was just a stupid offer, He would have been on very little (150k-200k) He has the exact tools that we needed and you never die wondering with him - The guy gives his all. FFS we gave players like Hampson,Knights 2/3 year deals when they hardly seemed to get on the park.

Will Brodie will be a useful edition to our midfield.
We wernt talking about positions these players were in, just the size they were drafted at and if they were 'runts'. The point was Vlass, Lennon and 'B' Ellis weren't runts when drafted, so its not like we have gone after skinny players all the time of late.
Ok having just peeled myself from the ceiling who are the top 3 draft picks that will be within our grasp and with any luck tv gets a multi million dollar FA deal from freo and we get r1 compo for possibly two picks in the top 3
Considering I'd suggest we could have up to 5 in the top 10-15 who are academy picks it'll be interesting.\
Sam Petrevski-Seton & Will Brodie are seen are the top couple of picks, both midfielders.
Wonder how our academies are going , would be pissed if we haven't already ran a clinic in central vic for Sundanese and indigenous kids , we should have a production line happening when this fires up

I'm actually pretty pissed that there is likely to be plethora of players at what should have been our second pick that have alot more potential than Yarran. We need to get back into the second round .

At 179cm he would have to be pretty bloody good in terms of class, but who knows he might be, better than Prestia anyway
If yarran can get on the park and plAy some decent footy before the year is out , pick 19 is fAir. Whilst he s on the sidelines pick 64 seems to high , he just needs to get fit , super fit

They will apply spin, stable club, half step back this year and two steps forward next year bla bla bla.......
The clubs focus at this point in time should be squeezing every possible ounce of talent out of our current kids with eyes firmly fixed on bringing in more talent at seasons end not a gimmick like a women's team. Don't like the timing of it one bit.
