List Mgmt. 2016 Draft - It was on last Friday.

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

A lot deeper than last year- very even first round at this stage. Lots of midfielders/ruckman compared with the key position players we had last year.

I love players like Hampton, Korewha, Kerr, Gallucci, Clarke etc and I think we could get these guys if we just try and add more picks in the early rounds. Don't have to be Top 10 picks

I don't think they did too badly. Menadue, Ellis, Short, Lambert and even Drummond should be good for us.

This is where we all get ****ed up when 3 minutes into careers if you are a tiger draftee and have done something ridiculous and hit a target in a game, we go apeshit and think we have killed the draft. Outside a good kicking style, Cellis has shown SFA, Menadue is doing ok, but lacks real class and skill, another footsoldier me thinks, Short kicked 3 on debut but so did McGrath, Lambo is ok, but as is the case with Miles, lack of size will eventually find them out.Drummond I wait on before offering an opinion. To put it in persepctive, we have no kids that have come out and said I belong from game 1, outside short. All the others are kids that looks like kids...ufortunately for us, elites and stars, shine from the start, like you can see it right there in front of you and then when you do, it tends to be the footy world talking about them, not just Tigerbelle and a few tigerheads desperate to find the answer.

To all the tigerheads in here. Which part of we didnt have any hopes for flags and our recruiting was focused on making us competitive only, dont you get? Like it has been stated by our footy manager that our FOCUS was purely on sucking the fans dicks who were despearate to go the G for a final....that to me is a neon light that says, we tank our arses off this year and load up with however many picks we can get by trade and start again...THE ****ING END

It's a rare few that players come in from game 1 and say that I belong... The only players this year has been petracca and weitering.

Oh ok, so at round 7 that means everything i guess. Think Olly wines, Heppel, hell even Cotch and Martin, you just knew and if you can suggest the same for CDellis, Menadue etc then you are purely hoping like hell, just like FJ does when he goes to the draft ;)

You'e reinforced my point mate, it's rare that out of all players that debut each year that everyone sets the world on fire.... You've named stand out players across the last 7 years.

I'm not defending our list but it's true that you can not judge a player until they hit 50 games.

Can't believe that i'm looking at 2016 draft crop already but that's what happens when your season is over this early. from my couch ive picked out the following 2 inside mids that appear to fit our needs:
Sam Powell-Pepper
Position:
Midfielder
Size: 186cm, 83kg
If fellow WA hyphen Petrevski-Seton is class, class, class, Powell-Pepper is tough, tough, tough. An outstanding ball winner, Powell-Pepper is a strong-bodied midfielder who impressed in the WAFL colts last year, averaging 18 disposals, three clearances and one goal from seven games. He is very composed and even played off half-back in the 2015 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, rating above average for disposals and metres gained.

Will Brodie
Position:
Midfielder
Size: 187cm, 80kg
A hard-working, strong-bodied, tough and reliable on-baller, Brodie is already a premier player in the TAC Cup. He proved he could win his own ball while playing for the Bushrangers in 2015, averaging 20 disposals and five clearances across his six matches. He also competed strongly at the championships for Vic Country and showed off his defensive capabilities, rating above average as a midfielder for pressure points and tackles. Will be a hard man to stop around stoppages at Under 18 level this season.

Bets midfielder avaliable we go mcluggage or brodie. Don't think petrevski seton will be there. Best defender will be Josh Rotham or take key forward Todd Marshall.

who's saying judge dude? at the end of the day if they show up from day 1 they invariably become stars of the game..if they take their time, they are more likkely to become loyal foot soldiers, with a couple ascending to stardom. the good ones know they are good from day 1 and dont shit themselves in doing what they KNOW they are good at. ;)

Petracca, Weitering, Tom Papley, and Darcy Parish all showed good signs quite early. That doesn't mean that every A-grader showed something from the beginning, but I find that they do show something early on quite often.

It would help if Richmond played their recruits in position though

We should "encourage" Vickery to go as a free agent and get both

Don't see the point in keeping our first rounder this year or next. After Hooker Compo and Academies, our pick will once again be 12. The new system is going to end up really punishing clubs like us, Norf, Port ect... unless you get some F/S prospects.

Next year we've got Naish who early running might be a 1st rounder so may as well exploit the system and get rid of it so we can use 2nd and 3rd rounders to get him, before the AFL realise it screws up equalisation and takes the opportunity away from us.
good idea. time for richmond to start being smart traders and do things like this. We would get a very very good player for that 1st rounder, especially seeing that they claim that next year is going to be a super quality draft.

I understand where you are coming from. But I think you misunderstood my comment re: some of our 2014 draftees. I said that I thought we didn't do too badly. I don't think they are going to be A graders. But I do think that they could be solid B graders. I feel that good solid B graders are important because no team has 22 A graders. I think that if these players do become solid B graders they will help out our A graders quite a lot. This makes me think that our list isn't as bad as some people think. That is all I meant. I wasn't trying to say that our 2014 draftees were the entire solution to our current problems.

His kicking here is atrocious. No thanx.

Correct kicking is very poor.
Why would a kid with shocking footskills be projected as a top 10 pick?

P.S. I was hoping you were going to put me in my place and tell me he's actually an elite kick but for some unknown reason had a really bad day.
