If GC do select Taranto at #4, as I think they may, then we'll bid on Bowes.

Wouldn't be surprised should we also bid on Setterfield, ultimately leaving us with the pick #7 on SPS.

I should say I don't think the Suns are bastards (I do live on the Coast)...

Just thought I'd look at the draft videos on the AFL website.

I had a look at a few kids I haven't heard much of in phantom discussions. Here's some we could look at for pick 48 onwards and later, maybe?

(Of course tomorrow I'll look at a few more videos and have a different opinion!)

Judah London - medium utility (186cm) with a classy left leg. Good overhead.
Esava Ratugolea - 194cm full forward. A good mark and kick for goal. Didn't seem to do much running but a good leap.
Sean Darcy - 113kg ruck. A man mountain with reasonable around the ground skills. Needs to get slimmer, rookie maybe.
Oscar Juncker - Listed as a 193cm 'midfielder' - outside if that's the case. Good mark and left foot kick.
Josh Williams - Lightly built tall (189cm) outside mid. This kid loves to run and gun. Get him!
Bailey Morrish - Medium defender (186cm). Steady pair of hands in the back 6. Reliable left foot kick.
Liam Baker - Good in traffic at stoppages but will probably slide to the rookie draft because of his height (174cm).

Great work Azul . I would say most of these would be available with our 4th pick. Shows the depth of this draft

If SOS wants Taranto at 5 and thinks the Suns might pounce, might be worth making a phone call, something along the lines of 'leave Taranto and we won't bid on Bowes'. Gives GC two bites of the cherry before having to take Bowes.

Cheers. I'm assuming we take midfielders with our first 2 picks if overlook Battle and Kerr at 25. Then the rest of the draft can be boosting depth and plugging holes.

Of those above, Williams stands out. The sort of player we were hoping to get out of Dylan Buckley and Blaine Boekhorst. Loves a run and goal.
Juncker would be my next best but I think he'll play across the backline and I'm not sure how many mobile defenders (Weiters, Caleb, Plow) we need.
London has a bit of flair, while Morrish and Baker are meat and potatoes that every team needs.

Darcy and Ratugolea look like long term project players to fill specific needs, replacing Casboult, Jones and Gorringe on the list.

im not to worried about who we get. seems to be out of taranto brodie or sps. im a scrimshaw fan but any of these guys would be a great get. nice to just sit back and see what happens. 4-5 picks from 25 onwards will be the interesting ones.

we know pick 5 will be a very good player. if we can get another 2-3 very good players in the draft it will make a big difference

Agreed. This feels like last year. No fuss about the Weitering selection as we knew what we were getting at the pointy end of the draft.

It will be far more interesting to see what we get to compliment that selection and what direction we go with later picks.

Personally I would select best available with our first 2 or 3 picks.

From your list I rate Morrish on top. I have others that I believe could/should be available, pick 48 onward.

Morrison, Banfield, Brayshaw etc

Cheers, Morrish does look a likely type to support Docherty.

I'm only an armchair recruiter basing my opinions on highlights reels and I'll have a gander at the other 3.

Arr0w If you were in the hot seat and had a choice of SPS or Taranto - Who do you take?

I personally am getting a strong (gut) feeling that SPS is the guy SOS wants.

Yes I get that feeling too, really hard to decide, but Taranto, slightly ahead of SPS for me.

I just don't see another Taranto type at 25 or later in the draft. Possibly a Fisher out there, as he wins a fair share of contested ball as well as hitting the scoreboard and has played senior level, but just not that 3rd tall option when resting forward.

There are a couple of SPS type players later in the draft, not as skilled as yet, but that could change. Shai Bolton might be available at 25. He actually doesn't mind winning his own ball and given he was born later in the year, 8/12/98 has more upside than most

That's why I am not too worried at 5, I trying to determine what happens after that

Which way would you go Bic , if you were SOS

Its a funny one, cas it doesnt look good for the kid you finally pick as it kinda leaves you with the impression that you werent their first choice. I wonder if this factors into it at all. Probably not. Im still going to post this comment though.

with all the academy picks etc there is a real possibility of a very good player at 25. im not going to try and predict as last year i had a number of names at 23 and cuningham wasnt one of them. happy we picked him though:)

Yes, although there was some information late, that we were looking at Cuningham. I actually had Clarke penciled in at 23, but also satisfied with Cuningham :thumbsu:

Any reason we didn't pick Dunkley? He jumped out of the blocks ahead of Dave CheeseInHam
Wins 1v1 but doesn't break away, nor does he dispose well by foot under pressure. Relies on getting a clean break with the footy, which can make him unaccountable.
