There are way too many variables in SuperCoach for any of that to be applicable.

Yeah, the winner at the end of the year never has the "best" team by salary values.

I never said they were. In fact I explicitly said that the skill of supercoach was in a player's judgement, and luck.

All I said was that without enough bank you can't join the conversation.

"Add in 8 rookies on the benches and you're looking at around $14 million to give yourself the best possible chance.

That means you need to get 4 million extra from what you start with over the season."

While that's technically correct, in practice it's nowhere near true. It'd be more interesting to see how actual winners' salary cap went and get the lower bound on the increase needed.

Aiming for the "perfect" scenario can lead to people getting screwed by wasting trades to chase it, when actually they might be on pace when considering what actually happens.

The two biggest factors are cash generation and bench selection.

Right now, I'm sitting around 4k.

Which is:

40 points off the top 2000

100 points off the top 1000

250 points off the top 100

350 points off the top 10

and 400 points off #1

You lose maybe 40 points from the wrong bench selection here, 20 there and 40 from the wrong captain and you're leaking 100 points per week.

Since the start of the season, that's the difference between sitting at 4k and being just off the top 10

You're too literal a person. I was merely colouring stats with narrative.

It terms of basics that new players don't understand though, cash generation and trade management, in the long run, are the things that will get them.

(Hell, even last year the guy in first dropped his bundle because he was out of trade come the final round.)

Bench, Captains (inc loophole) add points here and there, but there is also much more of an element of luck there.

Need some creative advice, I've got $275k in the bank, want to getit on the field, also think I may have a rookie problem with all of Dunkey, Lee and Gresham.

Do I trade for rookies or try and upgrade into a Parker etc?

Player X has been playing well but last year I remember he coped the vest a fair bit.
Where do I find which games weren't vest affected?

interesting point.

Being able to loophole Tippa really helped me this week. It was probably worth 50 or 6o points, which as you point out is a pretty big deal if you do it consistently.
