Imagine if we could somehow get one of SPS, McLuggage or Brodie... now that would be slipping a kid right up the top end.

If we had pick 4, one might be available. Pick 6, not so much. However 2 things,
1) McGrath, Scrimshaw or Venables could be just as good
2) I think we will make a HUGE play for Shiel when he becomes an RFA. (That's why I hope GWS can snatch a flag in the next couple of years, might make it easier to lure him home)
My biggest fear is SOS will go tall and take an English or Marshall with pick 6. Don't get me wrong,I think both will be very good players but we have more pressing needs.

Trading two key position players for three depth midfielders? I'd rather take the draft picks.

Midifeld DEPTH is not what we need, we have Kerridge, Wright, Whiley and Graham. Whilst those three may be equal or better than each of those players none are what we need. Which is midfield guns. We need one to two gun midfielders, not three to five depth players.

You don't know what you want and consequently flip & flop depending on who is asking the questions.

We dont need depth midfielders.. we need gun midfielders that CREATE depth by pushing current midfielders into depth roles.

It's a grammar thing. He was taking some literary licence when saying we don't need more depth midfielders but quality mids instead.

We don't need to fill up the depth part of the midfield through trades, we need to fill up the cream part, which pushes other players into depth.

Fair point but a player that chooses to play for free kicks the way he does and there seems to be more and more of it creeping into the game is always going to be copping some ridicule . Rather serious ridicule on said occasion .
The fact that mathieson has learnt it so early in his career is a bit disturbing really .

Sorry to burst your bubble but Kruezer won't be at the Bulldogs. Sydney & GWS are heavily into him. He wants to stay at the club but told Silvagni that he would go elsewhere if it was further the club. Delisting or trading Kerridge is probably the dumbest thing I've read on this forum.

You're right... you can never do with enough key posi players, but jeepers we need some mids as a priority.

Murray Bushrangers key forward Todd Marshall continued his consistent run of form on Saturday against Dandenong with nine disposals, three contested marks, three tackles, three goals and two behinds. In his seven TAC Cup games this year, he has kicked three goals in six of them.

The 198cm key forward has demonstrated considerable talent throughout the season and is seen as a top 10 selection, who may push inside the top five on draft day with a strong finals series.

Marshall plays his best football close to goal. He is an appealing key forward prospect because he has excellent agility and explosiveness, which in combination with extremely clean hands below his knees at his height, have moved him into position to be the first key position player to be selected in this year's AFL draft.

As the season has progressed, Marshall has shown some glimpses of Collingwood's Darcy Moore - they are similar heights and boast excellent athleticism and ground level ability but also attack the ball in flight.

Also impressive has been Marshall's reliability in front of goal, with 18 goals and five behinds in the TAC Cup this season. Overall the signs are that Marshall is converting the shots he should be and has the penetration to convert from 50-55m.

Marshall's forward pressure has also been pleasing. In his past three games he has laid 13 tackles and has shown a willingness to chase and pressure opposition defenders in general play. His tackling was also a highlight on Saturday against Dandenong with several strong tackles and chasing efforts.

Analysis

Despite his efforts this season, recruiters would be asking one another "when is Marshall going to kick 6-plus goals? Or take 10-plus marks in a game?" His goalkicking numbers have been consistent and he's also displayed flashes of brilliance here and there during games. The next stage in his progression is having a breakout performance that leaves recruiters feeling more confident that Marshall will be a No. 1 key forward at AFL level.

Marshall will be looking to add further size and strength to enable him to become a stronger one-on-one mark while still maintaining his athleticism.

He will also be looking to improve his endurance and over time develop the ability to push further up the field to become effective up the field as well as inside the forward 50m.

I agree, my people took an eternity to build our city.

I'm not knocking the guys we got this year, I'm really excited about what they will deliver further down the track.

This year's draft has been called a mids draft but the vast majority of them don't appear to be what you would call 'pure mids'. They are small forwards who want to push into the midfield or something similar. The other thing that seems to stick out this year more so than in the past is that they all have a serious flaw somewhere in their skill set.

There is no standout and its a real raffle for the first 25-30 spots, they are all quite 'same same', in fact this draft will really test the recruiters, one of them will unearth a genuine nugget from somewhere but its way too hard to know from which part of the draft.

Next year's draft pool is being touted as a 'superdraft' and I know we have heard it all before but after reading a lot of opinions across the 'net, I do believe it will be.

In a few years time, I can see this years draft being viewed as light on for solid long-term players like a 'calm before the storm' to next year when every club really loads up on highly talented lads.

Probably effectively net Marchbank, Tomlinson & Stewart for Kreuzer...which would be an astute trade.
Id expect we'd need to throw in slightly more to get Steele as well.

Then trade our third and the doggies third for a second rounder, which we trade to St Kilda for Longer (rumour that we were into him) as replacement for Krooz.

He kicked 3.2 from those 9 disposals though.

If he has a 20 disposal game, he may end up kicking a huge bag.
