This may provide a bit of a laugh for some.

I have a good friend who is a Port supporter who I was discussing the showdown and our finals chances with a few days back,. Great bloke and friend, but these are some of things he came out with (and no he was not trolling me, this was a genuine convo).

- None of our players are actually THAT good. Apparently all 22 players are playing out of their skin and next year we won't be as good as injuries will strike and players will return to being their normal, mediocre selves. Despite the fact that (arguably) the three biggest passengers we have had most of the year have been our oldest players (Thommo/Douglas/Mackay), supposedly there is no room for improvement next year, but we should still finish 7-8. Tried so hard not to lol. I mean we've had a good run with injuries and players have lifted in the absence of Danger, but we still have so many young players with plenty of scope for improvement, while also maintaining more than capable depth if injuries do strike.

- Douglas is CURRENTLY one of our best players and a player that every coach would LOVE to have in their side. Is a smart footballer (yes) and does everything you want as a coach (every coach wants their players to stack it constantly?). Supposedly Douglas plays like, and reminds him a lot of Nathan Krakouer, and that those 2 are equal on ability:drunk::drunk::drunk: lol wot....

- Charlie Cameron is a terrible player and the worst player in our current 22. Is okay offensively, but does nothing defensively and applies next to zero forward pressure....... LOL WOT!

- Apparently Port still definitely have the "cattle" to win a flag, they just need to get their "structures" right. That's all that's needed apparently guys!!! All the pieces are there, they just need to rotate a few 90 degrees and move a few around and everything should click into place.

Look, I don't come on here to purposefully lambast them and call all PAPs idiots. A good rivalry is healthy and I'm happy to discuss differing opinions with a supporter of any team. But shit like that? That just makes me want to pull my hair trying to think how they even come to these conclusions in the first place...

Lol, we know it's BS as we have plenty of talent throughout our squad but it's not the first time we've read that criticism this year from them.

So we have a club of committed, passionate and hard working players working their butts off playing good football and driven towards the common goal of getting a flag. If it was the opposite way around, they'd be calling that "the Port Adelaide way".

I'm not old enough to have seen footy in the 70s/80s and prior but from what I know of the SANFL back then, wasn't one of the things Port were famed for back in the day that they'd get players who were seen as "lacking talent" playing amazing football way above their pay grade for them to win a flag? Another interesting double standard!

Foxtel commentators finally starting to talk some sense about the gutless punching plague that's infested the AFL in recent years.

Eddie Mcguire: 1 week suspension for any punch

Jono Brown: shouldn't miss a game, but fine 10-20k

Dermie Brereton: um, shouldn't be missing a game, mumble mumble something about $1000 fine, but I don't like it and should be stamped out

McClure: grunt

And Eddie didn't have a motive with his team to play the Hawks next week? Hmmm... more self interest than sense there.

Shit. What a time to do it too. All of next year will be a write off for him. Really sucks for him and the Eagles

No idea, I was just happy to hear them talk about it seriously for once instead of "yeah, ok so he's doubled over throwing his guts up, but it was just a rib-tickler, all in good fun. He's really overplaying the force of it, trying to get the umps attention."

Sure generic footy commentator, come over here and let me "tickle" your ribs.

North better hope Melbourne don't pull one out against Geelong next week, they will be utterly embarassed come finals time.

Not looking good for N Nat and Steglar. Let's hope for the best.

I was at the Carlton game when Tex did his and I felt sick for the rest of the game and for the next month.

I was at that game as well and it is the only Crows game I've ever left early. It just felt horrible being there.

Buddy looks done for the day, my SC team takes a big hit.

The injuries to Nic Nat and Ceglar show you just how fine the line is in footy. We have been so lucky with injury this year - it needs to continue.
And we had Sauce go down against Brisbane a few weeks back. We are lucky it was only 2 week injury. That's why we have to make the most of this situation we find ourselves.
