Where did I write him off? Saying Simpkins best is better is not writing a player off. Posters are over rating him if they have him top 3 in this draft.Wild Bill
At least with your potting of Essendon, could you at least say we picked the wrong bloke. Writing off McGarth as a bust is incredibly stupid on your behalf when he is on track to play 200+ AFL games.

Posting you picked the wrong player would be like posting that the sky is blue. Not sure I need to post the obvious.
The mistake is having Taranto and McCluggage so much better and a much better fit for what you need. A lot of ess posters are also now questioning the decision to take a small flanker at pick 1. Inside mid is a huge hole in your list.Your continual attacks on Essendon insinuate that we screwed up. When in fact, he is on track to play 200 AFL games. Sure, may never be a top 10 player in the comp but he will be a very good player at the Bombers for a long time.

He is a good player - you want better than good at 1 and if you had your time again there is no way your taking McGrath - even if he plays 200 games.
Strange your tagging me into this thread after what he dished up last night.
What’s your opinion? Who are you personally taking at 1?That's all personal opinion. Your opinion is irrelevant when it comes to my club. You've shown your constant disdain that is much better suited to the bay than main threads.

You’re sooking because I don’t rate him in the top 3 in this draft so maybe put your list up. If you think this is bay material then you need to harden up.
I’m happy you took him as well. If you don’t want my opinion don’t tag me into a thread. Funny your posting in a re-do thread but won’t put up your list. Is because you don’t want to confirm what I’m posting??not sooking at all. Happy enough with Andy, can't change the past so no need to worry about it.
The point of the thread is to re-arrange the draft in order of who you'd take retrospectively. Unfortunately you can't ignore the potential picks you could have had with pick #1. If you don't like it you don't have to read the thread.not sooking at all. Happy enough with Andy, can't change the past so no need to worry about it.
It’s not just his opinion. It’s the opinion of many in the media, and from club land. That's all personal opinion. Your opinion is irrelevant when it comes to my club. You've shown your constant disdain that is much better suited to the bay than main threads.
Reckon Mitch Lewis goes alright against all of those not in the top 2-3.Interesting the divided views. I think Essendon made a serious mistake in not trading number 1 to GWS who were desperate to get McGrath. At the time, I did not see the McGrath attraction.
For what it's worth, my top 10
1. H McCluggage - proving to be the Rolls Royce
2. T Taranto
3. T Stewart
4. A McGrath
5. J Berry
6 W Rioli
7. T English
8. O Florent
9. A Witherden
10. J Battle
Some of the selections are based on some further development expected from English and Battle as talls need more time to develop.
So my major disappointment in West Coast taking Venables and not Berry was somewhat offset by Willie Rioli at 52 and Waterman at 77
McGrath still getting a high rating due to going 1 in his draft year. Very little separates McGrath, Florent and Simpkin in 2019.Interesting the divided views. Fair old chance of winning our B&F you'd think.Add me to the list of people pumping up their own team’s player but Marshall has arguably been the third best ruckman in the comp this year. Has been enormous. Not all that many players I would trade him for.
Yeah his consistency has been very impressive. Perfect for a b&f.Fair old chance of winning our B&F you'd think.
From the Bulldogs, I’d take Bontempelli, Daniel, Naughton, Smith, Libba, Macrae, Hunter, English and Johannisen ahead of McGrath.
All are better players currently or will become better players. You could make a case for a few others as well. Suggesting Bont and Macrae are the only two more valuable than McGrath from the Bulldogs is absolutely laughable.
He's the worst ruckman in a ruck contest due to his size at the moment. Gets bodied off with ease and his ruck craft is still relatively raw. But his ability around the ground has risen tremendously this past year - almost an extra midfielder - as has his contested marking. He has the ability to play tall and small, which is rare amongst ruckmen. Once he gets some size and his ruck craft improves - look out.Why are people so bullish on English? Has potential sure but he is currently the worst number one ruckman in the comp. If the Bulldogs had any half way decent rucks he’d be toiling away in the VFL and no one would be talking about him.
I had this opinion earlier in the season, but right now, his around the ground work is proving to be very good. Surprisingly reliable as both a hit up marking target and a third man intercept marker. Why are people so bullish on English? Has potential sure but he is currently the worst number one ruckman in the comp. If the Bulldogs had any half way decent rucks he’d be toiling away in the VFL and no one would be talking about him.
If you asked me at the start of this year, I'd have said this draft was a shocker for North. Now, I'd say you guys came out of it arguably better than any other club. Some of the best hauls, in my opinion, were:Not sure why there is any debate over Setterfield/McGrath. The latter had a far superior year from a pure statistical standpoint.
As for any suggestion that McGrath being better than most youth at the dogs, just lol.
For my club, happy with Simpkin/Larkey/Zurhaar, all going to be good players. Zurhaar is going to be the best of those three if I were a betting man.
