Just a general question about the fixture folks - seems so far everyone's pretty pleased with it.

Do you mean from a fan's perspective, or that it's a good fixture in terms of the relative difficulty for the players, or a bit of both?

Fan's perspective. Can't really know about difficulty until it happens and I'm yet to really see the difficulty of a draw having a material impact.

There can be no doubt.

I actually think its a bit of a fixture 'quirk' per say the eight games in Victoria - a great result for Melbourne based fans however!

With Freo, Port, Suns and Brissy all being so rubbish, and none of them being a double up team for us, it meant for sure we were only going to get 1 interstate game in Perth and Adelaide, and both Suns and Brisbane we played away from home last season, so they were both due to be home games this season.

Add in the Carlton double up. Then the baffling decisions that see us play both North and geelong away from home, despite our last matchups being away from home as well - and you can see how we ended up with 8 games in total in Melbourne.

I'm disappointed from a purely selfish personal perspective. 4 home games on a Thursday/Friday night, which are definite no gos for me due to work (I might be able to sneak in 1 of the Friday night games). Add in another 6 away games on Thursday/Friday night, again which I may manage 1 of them if I'm lucky. That's half the draw out already of contention already for me, and when you take them away, the fixture list of games I can probably get to is uninspiring, being:

- Port, Giants, Brisbane, Suns, St Kilda, Freo, Carlton (TBC) at home.
- Away games to choose from Carlton, North (again a problem game as 4.40pm Sunday start - wouldn't get back to Canberra till Monday morning), St Kilda, Richmond, GWS away.

Not exactly a great line up there to choose from. But that's how it goes, and given me and the better half have 8 weeks in Europe in Sept/Oct next year, it'll help save some decent cash. It does mean 2018 should have a lot of better opportunities for away trips though however :)

From a club perspective, the draw is no better nor worse than any other season really - I think they'll be pretty comfortable with it. Tough run of away games to end the season though - our last 4 away games are GWS, Hawks, Geelong and Adelaide. But in general a pretty reasonable draw overall I would of thought.

Great draw from an interstate/financial/exposure POV. But it seems pretty tricky in terms of team difficulty on first viewing - highest ranked side on last year's form we play at home but not away is 10th!

Of course, that could change with a few lower ranked sides having surprise seasons.

No games in Qld for the first time in eons. Apart from not seeing them play live up here very happy with this, any nonsense re the importance of the Sydney market re TV rights is now squashed.

Great for all Swans supporters barring Qld and Tas.

Great for Vic based supporters with 4 MCG, 3 Etihad and 1 in Geelong.

Based on last years ladder we play 3 top 8 sides twice, and the remaining 4 top 8 sides we play once and all away. Doesn't matter though as we win everywhere. No big deal.

8 Fridays and 1 Thursday gives good exposure for the club.

All in all a great fixture for supporters and for club exposure, and a hardish but fair draw considering we finished on top of the ladder and made the GF.

There are some drawbacks in terms of the home draw. 4 Thursday/Friday night games which are hard for people outside of Sydney but NSW based members, and only 4 afternoon games (which are popular with families and kids, and those that have to travel).

But all in all its a pretty decent draw, and its good for the long suffering Melbourne based fans to get one season that will be a 'bonanza' of games!

Richmond will still miss the finals with that fixture.

Well fcuk me. thats a fantastic draw! i was waiting with a jar of lube in hand!

Surely compensating for the worst umpiring n GF history.

"Ohh sorry guys, we did tell the umps to go a little bit harder on you, didnt think they'd completely fcuk you over. But dont worry, we'll chuck you a few extra prime time spots next year"

If my top eight prediction rings true, we will have 11 games against a top eight side. And I also believe we'll have six games against teams in the top four. But predictions mean FA this time of the year.

Let's be honest the best part about the draw is the fact the big heads at Hawthorn and Collingwood will have to get used to watching us in prime time
