Pretty sure we'll take him and if he works out to be that lightning quick small defender for us, then brilliant.

Buckleys biggest issue is decision making. In The highlights Penriths decisions were excellent and creative. Just the sort of player we need

Penrith plays like a rabbit. Everytime he is about to gather the ball, he fumbles. Great tackler, but that is all he has. Needs to improve dramatically, or a rookie spot is his best hope

We need a back pocket that tackles and is quick. Not much to lose for a late selection.

I quite like Penrith and as someone who does some junior coaching the issues you're all highlighting are valid and have an obvious solution. Whether Penrith can apply the coaching he'll receive for it is another story.

When you see a player who has good vision and is ferocious like Penrith. You look to add composure. I'm not saying he panics - I don't think he does. I say composure then suggest you go and look at Pendlebury in traffic. Everything he does looks slow. Even though it isn't. It's just his process of secure ball, then look then fire a handball is sublime and often you can turn the most fumbly a million miles an hour type player into someone a bit closer to Pendlebury on the spectrum just by telling them to slow down with the ball. Would be interesting to get the chance to coach Penrith. Looking at him play he's exciting.

NM will be looking at Key positon players IMO so likely to go Fogarty.

I'd have thought between Goldy and Preuss they're well covered for the ruck area. Brown, Wood and Daw have the forward line covered long-term.

Key defenders, yeah, maybe - but I don't think they'd be using a top 3 pick on one (especially this year, as there aren't any standout key backs).

Plenty of KPP available in the 2nd and 3rd rounds this year

NM have plenty of skinny, outside goal-kicking wingers. Reckon they'll be after a grunt mid like LDU.

Really? Who? McDonald? Atley? Turner? Simpkin? I don't think so.

Ziebell, Cunnington, Swallow (although he may be on the outer), Dumont makes up for enough midfield grunt.
They have moved on a couple of their slows in recent years (Greenwood & Bastinac), but have also lost the one true quality outside mid in Wells.......along with maybe Harvey who was retired.

Wouldn't touch Stephenson with a top 10 pick. 3 years away from senior footy body wise, inconsistent kicking action and lacklustre evasiveness about him despite him being light as a feather.

He's a Hayward/Rohan type unless he can get his body up to scratch, and even then he still might not elevate to a midfield or forward status worthy of that kind of draft expenditure.

Losing a bit of interest in Rayner because he's playing fairly exclusively as a forward as well.

You're hard to impress!

There's players with the same or better qualities that have higher levels of production in more demanding positions. It's also important to remember there are explicit rules at the champs to prevent spare defenders behind the ball.

LDU, Brander, Cerra and D.Fogarty would be much better uses of our pick.

LDU and D. Fogarty had rather disappointing champs it seems.

Fogarty appears to have a knee issue he's playing through, while LDU is probably a bit cooked after a stellar run in and a good opening round. They still produce this kind of football though:
