Post draft will be interesting on here.

Im sticking to my guns with LDU. I just see something in him I like. Despite his bigger body, I see a lot of upside in him, and he's already very good barring his disposal. Shades of Judd. Stands up in a tackle, bursts from packs, looks a million bucks at times. Only really been focussing on his footy for 2 years now, so I reckon in the right environment he's got plenty of scope to be the best in the draft by a long way.

Id take Dow at 2 and then Cerra at 3 over Raynor at 4 as well (I rate Brayshaw enough for him to come in at 5 - reckon he is a deadset Cotchin clone).

I like Dows pace out of packs and his aggression. Not afraid to have a shot at goal either. Plenty of scope to improve as well. Cerra impresses me with his poise (reminds me a little of Gibbs). Bonus points for Cerra bulking up this year and working on much better contested numbers instead of being more outside. Its a good sign for the future. Went away, worked hard and came back with extra strings to his bow. Shows a willingness to go that extra yard.

Raynor scares me with his endurance and the fact he's more of an impact player. I feel with SPS, Pickett and Curnow we already have that kind of lowish possession high impact player covered. We really need more 'pure mids' for mine.

Based on this, I'm thankful you are not there on draft night.

Pick 3, you take the best player available...which means if Raynor is there, then you take him.

If he wanted to stay in Melb (which incidentally I think he does) he should of just gone to the combine considering how poor his endurance is

Maybe it’s improved significantly over the season and his camp want to leave his current times PB as the base mark [emoji6]

I spoke with the Vic Metro coach tonight who gave me a little insight into the draft. He clearly has Rayner as the best player in this draft pool, then daylight. He does have Cerra at number 2 (may be a little biased) but rates Dow very highly. He has no doubts that Cerra is a 250 game player and is adamant that whoever selects him will have a very, very good player. He doesn't know too much about LDU.

Another source close to Vic Metro (definitely not the coach) also suggested that Rayner missing the combine was no accident. He would very much like to stay in Melbourne.

Yeah, I am suspicious of his beep test too

This is very true.

Despite these kinds of players being A grade potential and match winners, i think there is a limit to how many you actually want in one team since you still need the accumulators to win games week in, week out.

To add to those 3 even Fisher & Cuningham aren't exactly big possession winners either so just based on that i'd want one of Dow/LDU/Cerra over Rayner.

It’s actually possible Rayner isn’t the best player in this draft.

This line keeps being perpetuated, but if there was a choice between the two - taking into account the present and future - I’d take LDU.

But Dusty struggled to run out games until recently.

His endurance and longevity in games were an issue until a couple of years ago

Not as a junior. Dusty's issues until recently was more professional issues. He has that sorted now.

Raynar does look at times a cross between Troy Bond and Lindsay Thomas.

Will he end up more like these guys or more like Dusty??

Dow is the man for us

Yeah if pressed Dow is my preference. Watching his footage again I didn't realise first time around how hard at it he is in close. He's aggressive to win the ball. Then bursts with pace on the outside. Great combination.

I went to an APS school and played footy, not particularly well mind you, and I can tell you any kid who is BnF three years running must be of a very very high caliber. That means he was not only playing seniors in Year 10 but was the best player. That's almost unheard of.

This has been bothering me for some time, who Dow reminds me of, and now I've got it.... Robert Harvey... Strong and aggressive to win the hard ball then has that break away run.

I can see the LDU Judd comparisons. Judd quicker though. I think it's LDUs size and agility and good run that draws the comparisons.

Raynar Troy Bond or Dusty?

Cerra, not sure...

BRI are saying they interviewed Rayner and he told them he’s happy to move north (or west (FRE)).

I’m in the LDU camp. Not sure he will be available at 3 though.

Rayner as the potential to be a real elite level. It’s up to SOS whether he truly believes he can step up

Dow is the safe bet. I think Cerra is slightly better

Bit harsh. The interviews mean so much and we have no idea how they have gone.

As a pure midfield player with all the tools I’d take LDU over Rayner but that’s is only on watching him play. I have no idea what either are like or their backgrounds
