Need to somehow tell him to stop playing so well. Don't want Nth to take him instead of Rayner

Will North actually hold the first round pick if they end up with it? Rumours seem to suggest they're heavily into a few players Could end up in Giant's hands.

Jack Darling. Certainly has the physique to be like him.
(Realise I'm not Nunez!)
Darling,is a known soft and less than ,aggressive type,Ballenden is anything but...the reason I compare him to Jacovich,in physique and style.Has terrific disposal and vision.

Kicked 2 goals and picked up 27 touches roughly. His attack on the ball was ferocious and really used his speed to get out of congestion. One of the most rounded games I've seen for a while at TAC Cup level. Gun.
He certainly, and justifiably, has strong support in house,we need a Pendlebury...Bont.type...class and inside and outside, line breaker. He is that type, more so than any other, depending on where Rayner develops his style. We musnt trade picks,we need at least two midfielders and a fast small, plus Ballendon. That should do it.

Dow and another contested type like Brayshaw, possibly Hunter Clark, Zac Bailey if later. Sam Switkowski is one we are interested in as a fast small type.

Would be over the moon with-

Pick 1-2 Paddy Dow.
Pick 12-14 (Ports) Hunter Clark/James Worpel/Andrew Brayshaw or an unexpected slider eg. Charlie Constable/Nick Coffield/Jaidyn Stephenson.
Pick 18-19 Connor Ballenden matched bid.

+ 1 or 2 of Adam Sambono, Liam Ryan, Sam Switowski as late picks or rookied.

Note- Not taking into account any possible trades eg. Charlie Cameron.

Write up from afl draft central on Dow's game this weekend :
Paddy Dow – Dow is an A grade player and it is clear to see why he would come into consideration for the first pick in the National AFL Draft. He can win the ball inside or out, but does most of his damage when in space. He has super quick hands, a great kick when he has time and space, and he is a goal kicker as well. Dow booted a goal from outside 50 and then set up another later on in the game when he won the ball, kicked short, got to the contest to win the ball again and then weaved through three players to hit Angus Byrne lace out inside 50. Dow had another chance later in the third term but his shot drifted to the right. A last quarter goal after a contested grab again saw the Pioneers claw to within six points midway through the term.

briztoon will get a warm, fuzzy feeling reading this no doubt ;)

I wait for each new Izak Rankine youtube clip for the warm and fuzzy feelings.

Was indeed watching on. Happy to provide some info on requested players.
Were you sitting with or near any of the scouts? Did you hear anything?

Honestly, I'd prefer your general impressions of the players you watched this weekend. Who stood out, whose games will translate to the pro game.

Big if true. No idea who the Giants would take. Rayner most likely I think looking at their list. Dow would also appeal as well being a quicker inside type.

From my readings on bigfooty, Rayner seems to have indicated he does not want to leave Vic. If true that isn't the best outcome for us as we would likely have to pick the 3rd best talent in the draft.

Why would we risk it tho? Develop someone else's player for 2 years at half the price.
Probably won't risk it but Adelaide seemed to draft without fear..

Will be interesting if Noble's attitude is tough t***ies you are coming to Brisbane for 2 years(at least)

Let's say, this is true ,that he wants s to stay in melbourne. It makes an absolute mockery of what the draft system was meant to be.Any player who wants to manipulate the system should be banned for at least 3 years. Bottom line is , if kids want to act like a smart ass and resort to this type of behaviour , they are not worthy to play at the elite level. I feel it is tantamount to blackmail and therefore totally unexceptable, and players who do this need to be made an example of.pure and simple

Wasn't there the same rumours about Florent?

Teams can turn it around. 2 years could coincide with our new facilities and pushing or even playing finals.

How would you police it? Players dont say "I want to stay in Vic and not go interstate" that will just tank the interview by making general comments like "yeah I am very close with my family, it will be extremely hard for me but you never know" etc etc

All those comments firstly ring alarm bells to me. It would be nice if a player stated , gee , i just love my footy and will do whatever it takes , to make it , in the AFL. So to answer your question.my suggestions are.

The draft is designed to let every club have a chance at the premiership. Greater protection is required for weaker clubs.

So

Increase the years from 2 to 3 that new recruits must spend at their new club.
AFL to give greater resources and flexibility in terms of money ,to employ better staff , training facilities and afl expertise to assist struggling clubs to provide better welfare units. Particularly poorer clubs.
Stipulate in unambiguous terms on contracts for new recuits that if they ,once recruited decide to want to leave ,that they will have to sit out of the AFL for a period of three years before being able to play at the elite level again. If found to be manipulating the draft regulations. This may hopefully cut out the lies. Or players Like SPS who are dumb enough to say to the media , prior to the draft ,they only want to play in melboure and their preference is club x. They will face immediate exclusion from the draft.
Have standard behavioural questions at all club interviews, not stupid irrelevant ones like what is 4x 8
Set up a independent review committee, that has power to determine and compel adequate compensation to clubs
Who may be given inferior picks for one of their players. This is with the go home five in mind. Example pick 4 2017 wants to go to another club. Other club only offers only pick 28 as they feel they hold the stronger position in the negotiations. The club that has the player currenly ,capitulates (gun to the head)as player states he will walk if no trade is done. Under this example ,the new review panel ,will compel the new club to give their 1st round pick and if their 1st round pick is say pick 11 then will be compelled to give more . This will force clubs who want to raid bottom clubs for nothing ,something to seriously consider before a formal offer is made. The panel's objective will be to protect the rights of struggling, bottom placed clubs ,so that all trades are conducted on a fair and level playing field.
Bands on potential recruits conducting behnd the scenes negotiations with clubs prior to a formal meeting held at afl headquarters by all 18 clubs prior to the daft. Breaches by clubs will face disqualification from the draft. This hopefully prevents stronger, wealthier clubs swaying young kids minds that their place to be is with them.
Restrictions on player managers signing up kids prior to this formal meeting.
