Bailey may lack polish but he will certainly boost our possession numbers. Just knows how to get it. His disposal may improve, as Lewy's has over the last couple of years.

St Kilda getting Hunter Clark and Coffield is insane. I reckon they're top 5 players in this group and getting them both is a dream scenario.
LDU and Brayshaw is a pretty good haul for Freo as well.

Dream draft for Richmond!

17 - Stephenson
20 -Brander
25 - Hayes
27 Naish

All been talked about in top 10 at some stage, Brander and Stephenson top 5!

How does Rayner compare to Ainsworth from last season. Both play similar positions, you would think Rayner would be the better player as he is proabbly gonna be 1 in this draft?

Rayner is bigger and slower. Rayner has probably shown more as a midfielder.

The philosophy has always been that the best K P players are found at the high end of the draft. We delisted Close, Hammer, Schache and according to Twomey we have Brander available to us at pick 18 and we select a mid who appears to be nothing special? I find that really puzzling. Twelve months ago Brander was touted as the number one player in the country and we pass on a versatile KP player who according to Luke Power is a better CHB?
I will wait for Friday with anticipation and a little dread, maybe.

I reckon we have enough talls to cover the loss of those delisted when you consider Ballenden and Payne are coming in. We might also be looking at a project player later in the draft such as Hugh Dixon, who i rate.

Yep, whoever picks up Dixon will be getting a gem.

why would we not take the punt on Stephenson? surely its a condition that can be managed
Only the medical staff will know if it can be managed and Conole and staff will be acting on medical advice.

Rayner is bigger and slower. Rayner has probably shown more as a midfielder.

As mentioned, Rayner has about 8cm on Ainsworth, and Ainsworth is faster with a good leap. Rayner has a good leap as well. I disagree that Rayner has shown more as a midfielder. After the U18 champs last year, Ainsworth was moved in to the midfield at AFL clubs request, where he put up multiple 30+ possession games and showed he had the endurance to play midfield minutes at AFL. While still kicking goals.

If we get Rayner and L Fogarty then Barrett might not get too many games next season.

barrettt might be able to work on things in his game like disposal etc which would allow him to move into the midfield which is where if he is ever going to make it he should be playing

fair enough, just hope our medical staff are top notch and all over this
not something that has ever happened before, an elite prospect dropping due to a condition such as this

I'm not sure if it was Anderson on SEN yesterday when talking about Stephenson, or if I read it, but there was talk that the medication used to manage the condition can make people drowsy and possibly sluggish.

Seeing as the Lions head of medical was involved in todays club draft discussions, I'm sure the club has Stepehson's medical records and will have discussed him and the condition in depth.

Cal Twomey also has Ballenden sliding out of the top 30.

This is obviously great news for us. Pick 30 is the cut-off, after which, our Pick 44 will not move. Not adjusted for academy/Naish bidding the numbers look like this:

Pick before 18, we lose pick 18 (if we match).
Pick 19-30, we lose pick 40, and then 44 moves back.
Pick 30+, pick 40 moves back, and we get pick 44 as a live pick (pending a bid on Payne).

With this in mind, a dream draft to me looks like:

Pick 1 - Rayner/Brayshaw (I honestly don't mind which)
Pick 15 + 18 - two of Stephenson, LFogarty, Bonar, Clark, Allen, Richards, et al (just whoever is left).
Pick 40 - matches Ballenden
Pick 44 - Worpel
Pick 52 - Whoever the club rates. Maybe a Sambono, Will Walker, Jackson Ross, Houlihan, Answerth, etc.
Rookie 1 - Hartung
Rookie Academy - Payne

Of course, better still would be Rayner at 1, Brayshaw at 15, LDU at 18 etc, etc, but you know... in the real world.

It would be a huge predicament if Stephenson and Fogarty are still on the board at 15. If we went with Stephenson, Fogarty would likely be taken at 16/17. How much do we take into account him and Rayner being mates?

Surely Stephenson doesn't get to 15 though.

If you had a choice between Ainsworthn(in his draft year) and Rayner, who would you pick for the best long term player
