I'd take one. if Nank gets injured we have injury prone Hampson or Soldo who probably isn't ready still.
If Nank goes down no way Hayes steps in this year.

true. just think we are drafting for the future not next yr. atm we only have 3 pure rucks on the list, 1 is injury prone the other not ready yet. granted Hayes won't be either as you say but he will be by the time Hampson retires in 2-3 yrs (all going well).
Griff could play as a ruck but he's 1 head knock from giving it away.

Heads up that no matter who we draft, we won the flag.

Is it just me or is anyone else's care factor for the draft the lowest is ever been.? Like every year we wait for our next premiership savior to be drafted yet this year we don't need it. And it doesn't matter so much.
I still have an interest in the draft and care about the outcome. It is really my perspective changed. I'm not looking at the player who could get us to rise up the ladder to win the next premiership. I'm looking at a player who will make the next rebuild period as short as possible or to not even go into a rebuild period.

This is one of my favourite draft memories
http://www.smh.com.au/afl/trading-a...4-how-did-your-club-fare-20141128-11wdim.html

Carlton backed themselves in and picked the player they wanted most, 21-year-old Blaine Boekhorst from Swan Districts, at pick 19. The Blues' decision was the talk of the night, given the junior talent still available at that point. It was a gutsy call – Boekhorst would likely have made it to their second pick at 28 – but they picked Dillon Viojo-Rainbow there for a pretty good price, so got two players they really liked rather than risk missing one. What's interesting and what can only be assessed in time is how the Blues' decision to slide from pick 7 to pick 19 during the trade period plays out. Whether the club rated Peter Wright, who knows, but he was the key forward they would have had access to had they not opted instead for Kristian Jaksch, Mark Whiley and Boekhorst, who will bring the sort of run they need. Clem Smith was a steal at pick 60, and and Jayden Foster kicked more goals than anyone in the TAC Cup this year.

Sam Hayes sounds like a very good prospect. Won't be disappointed if we select him at pick 25

He has the tools to be outstanding. Regularly the draft watchers say he could be the best ruck in the AFL in 5 years - if he works hard and develops his fitness. That's worth pick 25. I can see that we are not just picking a ruck to fill a list need. But best available for 5 years. When Nank might be starting ot slow down we have a ready made A grade replacement, with luck and good development.

If they have checked his cardiovascular system and know he just needs hard work and a good attitude then he sounds like the perfect mid 2nd round pick.

What do people think of Charlie Ballard? A 195cm midfielder apparently.

Quite a few Phantom Drafts have him at our pick 20 while having Brander at pick 17.

That's my thinking. We just need to keep building the list from below. Out leaders have 3-5 years left. So we need to players to replace them. We have a heap of talented youngsters, so what we need isn't the savior, it's a the best talent for the future. I'm happy with the players we are supposedly looking at. More longer term and talented then short term fixes. This could be a great draft for the Tigers long term prospects. I wouldn't care if we don't see them in 2018.

What time is the draft?

I thought it was usually in the evening.

Looks good to me. Knows how to find it and use it well. At that hight you wonder if he can become a CHF? I don't know what he's like overhead though...

i guess thats what im feeling - more that its not the pressure of actually drafting with the pressure of a premiership - just want to see who we unearth.

This time last year I was the most impressed by Shai Bolton's highlight package out of all the draftees whose highlights package I saw.

This year I think it is Stephenson's highlights package that I like the most from those that I have watched. Entertaining to watch! You can tell that he has a lot of talent. He is good in traffic, has explosive pace, plays with intensity and really knows what to do with the ball. I think his gameplay would translate very well to AFL level and especially our way of playing.

I reckon the team that picks him up have a good player on their hands (if his heart remains in a good condition).

Awesome! I really don't know much about him, but saw a couple of Phantom Drafts put him at our pick. He may not be ready for next year though. But I don't think we need him to be either.

Don't know anything about any players but i am tuning in to the start of the draft to hear this........

Gil: " i would like to congratulate Damien Hardwick and the Richmond Football Club on winning this years premiership "
Can't wait for moans from the cats table."We should have played our final at home"
