I would offer up weitering for Kelly and run as fast as I could with Kelly if they ever went for it

With a surplus of defenders I would be off loading from there and say Marc Murphy to reconstitute our midfield

Jones is our best lock down defender ( Alex silvagni can help
Rowe I see as finished
Marchbank can do the weitering
Plowman is getting better and better
And the one that I believe is a hybrid defender lock down and intercept and the best of the whole lot potentially is my man in defence Macreadie
I truly think this guy will fill out and be the absolute bees knees defender
Probably needs two to three more years

We can afford to let weitering go because I'm hoping he has enough currency for a straight out swap ( might be wishful)

I'm not buying the Richmond /Levi story yet, they're trying to sign Martin to a big deal that could be bigger if it's known they have 500-600k spare in the cap.

We'll just go to the draft and wait to find a maybe to support Riewoldt.....my money is till on them

If and that's a big if, Richmond have fallen out of interest for Levi, others will come up.
There will be clubs seduced in what they may be able to manufacture out of Levi.

Still see clubs Collingwood and Melbourne as possible suitors, but what about our compo? How much hinges on what we get?

Yeah agree Collingwood could be a big player especially if Bucks only gets a short contract. Casboult def better than Mayne that has been a disaster for them.

Casboult = underpaid, leading contested mark, hard to replace. Daisy Thomas = overpaid, underwhelming, there would be 100 people that could match his game output. Yet we give a loyal KPF the pointy end of the stick. I dont see what a lot of others see.

Why do you think Levi is loyal? Wouldn't have survived this long on too many other lists, and at the first sign of improvement last year tried to take us for a ride with excessive contract demands.

This is so ridiculously short sighted. He's a 19 year old KPD with an enormous amount of ability. He's had to shoulder more this year than most 2nd year players and has struggled because of it.

Kelly is a gun but in 3-4 years when Weitering is killing it as a 22-23 y/o this will be a really embarrassing call.

Well i have no problem if Weitering were to end up a permanant forward the kid is a jet but there is no way i can see the club trading him anytime soon. He is 1 of the players the club wants to build around IMO.

I actually think Marchbank can play smaller or taller if required. So having him Jones and Weitering all in the backline isnt to big a concern. Most teams have 3 guys 190 plus playing in backline these days as players are getting taller.

I believe the loyalty comes from staying with the team in the 'crud' seasons. He has seen a reasonable group of players leave (waite, henderson, betts). Then you have Daisy come along on big bucks and have less impact than the guys who got traded out. Worst goal scoring team in the league. Its like going in an F1 race driving for team Landrover. As a proffesional with a small window to earn and kick a few goals...Im just wary of another Betts like trade out where we get stuff all and Cas has been improving with less opportunity. The missed shots arent from lack of effort or care...if he treated his career as a business I would say he has put the team over dollars.

I like your backline ... accentuates how important Plowman is

Plowman is 192cm and has the body to take the premium tall from time to time.
He's the wrecking ball of the back-line, the guy who seems to take most of the big hits putting his body in the way. I like him a lot.

I like the blend of that back-line and if it's not Pickett, then someone who can carry the ball out of the backline....not that Docherty and Byrne can't, but he's the guy that could spook opposition defenders when he's crossed the centre line.

Weiters is surplus to our needs.

I genuinely rate Macreadie as good or better as a defender.

He needs to reinvent himself as a Nick Rooey type where he gets all over the ground if he's to be worth that number one pick title.

Kelly is the epitome of elite. Get him SOS, anyway you can.

I think that at least part of the point being made is that we'd be better with Kelly on the books than Weitering.

It certainly makes us more balanced for now but giving up a talent like Weitering will only come back to bite us. We need to be patient and play the long game here. Finding Jones is great but he'll be pushing 30 by the time we are truly challenging again. Weitering & Marchbank will be 23/24. Yes we need mids but let's not damage some of the work we've done in other areas of the ground to achieve it.

I dont think you trade Weitering to fit Macreadie into the team. Macreadie like all players needs to earn his spot, clearly the coaches have Weiters and Jones ahead of him.

Bottom line for me is if we can get a pick under 30 let him go if not he is a handy footballer on our list but don't give him more than 2 years. Keep him hungry. It's now up to others to go past him. That will be a sign we are improving
