Sure, but if we attract neither we're looking at Cripps, SPS, Cuningham, Williamson, Fish which suddenly looks grim if just one of those guys doesn't make it. Hoping we can really build depth either way.

Charlie & Polson plus I reckon we will get Hopper & Balic and select Rayner with pick 2? Murphy still has 2-3 years and Curnow is only 27.

Could ASOS play forward? Hasn't he been a swing man in the past?
Worth a try?

Can't see much being achieved by such an exercise.
We have next year to sort out all the pieces, before being in a much more serious position come '19.

Understand what you were trying to say here but... yeah... wrong choice of word I think lol

HAHAHAHAA too true shan ..... When ASOS comes back I don't want him busting anything else on his body!!! :)

If the long term game plan is to play JW, Marchbank and Plowman down the back half of the field we'll need someone to play the role forward that JW has been playing this year.

Given the speed burst that ASOS has if he has the ability to lead he could present a high quality option and ease the burden on McKay and/or Kerr as they develop forward with or without Casboult. If it's with Casboult suddenly you're enabling one of our KPs to take the third defender instead of the second. My only concern would be that if you include SOSOS and Curnow you risk being too top heavy up forward.

At worst it enables you to switch the match ups in whatever is conceivably our favor.

100% modern successful teams are very fluid and flexible with many players being able to hold down multiple roles capably.

Macreadie needs to be tried in another line because we are going to be hard pressed to get the most out of all of Weitering, Marchbank, Jones, Plowman and Macreadie in the one side, otherwise. Macreadie is the least entrenched, so that's what I've based my reasoning on.

If Levi leaves it could be another option putting Rowe or ASOS up forward to protect the kids. Hard to drop Jones in the form he's in.
Great having the depth now.

Not happening at the moment with him playing down back with other injuries, and getting pretty good reviews for his positioning from Fraser.

Plus with Kerr (now rucking too due to our ruck shortage) and McKay up forward in the 2's for now it may not be an option this year.

Weitering to a wing could be an alternative if not forward bound.

Will Jonesy get a gig to see how his forward craft goes with his new found confidence in the AFL, FF for a half in one of the latter games. 6 goals on the cards.

Good God, I hope they don't **** him up by swinging him back forward. You've got a good thing going with him down back. Keep him there.

**** no .... he will go full rampaging beast mode and eat Casboult by mistake.

This won't be a popular opinion but I'm just not seeing Plowman as a long term option.

We're struggling to find the right match ups for him this year.

We've been playing him on small forwards and he's been exposed for mobility and he struggles against the bigger forwards.

I'm guessing that's why GWS were glad to let go if him and his contract.

Going forward if he stays on our list it will only be for depth.

Plus pretty sure when we drafted him, SOS said Macreadie could play forward and back.

Maybe ... I personally don't think so but its decision for at least another 2 years away.

Invariably one of those players will end up getting injured, and that will allow McReadie to develop in the seniors.

That's said he is still 2 years from making a meaningful impact

Plowman has been great all year. Key part of the backline.

Another option if we lose Levi, is McKay.
The only reason we haven't seen Big Harry just yet is to develop him properly as he was a bottom aged draftee for one, second reason is he needs more time than KPD as they are led to the ball by the opposition forwards which aids running patterns, and more so the fact he would be starved in our current structure, as we are a defensive oriented side and he also needs to gain more size and strength.
To put Big Hary in now when we don't need to keeps him hungry but another preseason down and he should be in our starting line up. He will also be required to ruck when the ball is down his end.
The kid has huge upside and when Brendan Bolton is asked about him, you can see him smile and you can tell that he knows how good Harry is going to be and he currently is wrapped in cotton wool by Bolts and the MC.

LIAM Jones has opened talks with Carlton on a new contract after resurrecting his career in defence this season.
Jones' manager, Shane Casley, confirmed to AFL.com.au he was in talks with Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni about a new deal for his 26-year-old client.

"'SOS' (Silvagni) and I have caught up a couple of times and are in ongoing dialogue. Liam is pretty keen to stay at Carlton and hopefully we can get a deal done sooner rather than later," Casley said.

Hard to believe we talking about Jones with getting AFLCA votes, one-percenters, strong defensive play and effective rebounder:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Jones has received AFLCA award votes in three of his four senior games this year, polling in his performances against Gold Coast, Adelaide (both three votes out of a possible 10) and Greater Western Sydney (two).
He has also averaged more one-percenters than any other Blue in 2017 (11.5 a game; the next best is Sam Rowe, 7.3).
In addition to his strong defensive play, Jones has been an effective rebounder for the Blues since his return, averaging 6.5 marks and 3.8 rebound 50s a game.

Macreadie needs to be tried in another line because we are going to be hard pressed to get the most out of all of Weitering, Marchbank, Jones, Plowman and Macreadie in the one side, otherwise. Macreadie is the least entrenched, so that's what I've based my reasoning on.
