We'll see, of course.

There are many ways to go about trading and especially so with GWS, given their current unique situation.
It will be a matter of what works for GWS and for what works for us.

We have picks.....we have players....we have the ability to take on 'salary dumps'
Maybe a combination of all three will get us what we want and why just stop at Kelly?

What it won't be though, is a threat coming forward from SOS.

..and helping GWS is helping AFL, right?:D:D

Lennon, Castanga...... No
Rockliff... Only of Ed could never play again

We took Brad Walsh ahead of Adam Saad, Castagna, Nic Newman and even Lambert who was under our nose.

We used to do O.K. at the Rookie Draft but have well and truly stunk things up in recent years. Time for a change of fortune.

Because all and sundry on here are fixated with the notion the 2 first rounders is what he is worth with change coming back our way. But My point is that not all first round picks are created equal. And if ours is #1 then surely that equates to a lot more than say a pick #7 (offered for treloar) plus the pies next years first round (at the time the pies were convinced that they would finish in the top 8 in 2016 making their offer for next year probably around #12)
If you want to be empirical about this then we can look at the AFL points system for guidance.
Pick 1 3000 points
pick 7 1644 points
pick 12 1268
Which values the theoretical Treloar trade at 2912 points and our theoretical offer at 3000 points

I understand this, i don't dispute this, i agree with this. Im not sure what we are arguing about.

Can you see it?

A couple of years ago maybe, but I think that any value that Graham and Buckley may have had, has all but disappeared.

Nothing in there that is left field, except why the Tigers would trade for Cas. Take him for free and get a pick in for anyone else. For a journo not to know that Levi is a FA is pretty poor.

Why Carlton needs to be aggressive in the trade period if the Blues are to continue on their vital rebuild

Don't know if this has already been posted, so......

The old saying goes, ‘patience is a virtue,’ however it is time for list-manager to get very aggressive during the next trade period, and try to pick up some young out of contracted players.
Richmond trading for a free agent in Levi?
Gibbs signing in 2015 for 4 years?
Might have done his homework a bit better I think.

Well neither do we yet either. Brisbane have to win 2 games to get above us realistically because of a big percentage gap.

And even if we did. Last thing you want is to have a reputation like Collingwood do. I think their reputation and prior deals always having to have the upper hand has been why in the past few years they've failed miserably in making in a big deal.

A good negotiator doesn't win every deal. He wins more than he loses and has bigger wins than losses. Someone who wins on every deal isn't in enough deals.

We sure did, our drafting has stunk pretty much since its inception - but going by the last couple of drafts we are doing well at the real draft and less so at the rookie draft.

And im happier with that tbh.

Interesting read, not sure a guy like Graham has value to another club, but it should never be discarded

and why do we trade Casboult? He will go as a FA.

Rockliff doesn't fit the criteria that has been mentioned numerous times.

Also, why are people impatient after 18 months. A rebuild is 3-4 years minimum. If they analysed the process and selections properly they would realise we are on track

Lazy, dumb article

Korcheck, JGM, Gallucci and LeBois aren't looking super inspiring atm
Korchek was a free hit, international Market. JGM was always a project player and has shown a little this year. Gallucci injured 1st year and this year has proved to be a bit of a bust. LeBois, I wouldnt write off just yet, showed a bit in JLT.

If Gibbs does go to Adelaide, one of several things can come about;

1. We get direct compensation by way of pick/picks.
2. We get compensated by way of a pick and a player.
3. We get compensated by way of a pick via a third party.
4. We get compensated by way of a player via a third party.

Just feel it may be #3, but the interesting one would be #4
i.e. Gibbs to Adelaide___Lever to ............_______ to Carlton.

Agreed Soapy. The only way I see Casboult going for a pick, is if it benefits all 3 parties. If that is the case, a side that might lose a player to FA, then rather than having that compensation pick being reduced, will trade to get Casboult in
