DEMAND THE PICK!!!If we finish last priority pick discussions should 100% be on the table. **** being NOBLE the AFL are corrupt, as proven by their incessant pushing of the drug cheats on us - see James Hird's presentation of the norm smith.
They have no morals. We shouldnt concern ourselves with them either. Demand the pick
If we got Kelly and Hopper - doubt we'd be bottom 5 material
A midfield of Cripps, Kelly, Hopper, SPS, Murphy, Curnow? Can't see that being cellar-dweller

AFL won't give it to us though. They will use the fact we have 5 rising star nominations this year. They screwed us when Waite left and gave us nothing. As we should
2017 GWS 2nd round pick approx 35 for 2016 picks 48,66,70 (ironically all from the Mitchell/Lewis trades which ended up being 47,61,65 - MacReadie, Williamson and Kerr)
2017- on footywireCareer? Or Footywire is wrong.
Whitfield closer to a salary dump?Even if it was all three, I'd want another player we can put in our 22 at that price given Hopper and Kelly are out of contract.
Whitfield is overrated and closer to a salary dump than a top 10 pick.
When was the last time pick 2 dominated midseason first year?
Consider the way the draft value index dives quickly from 1 to 10, then 10 to 20. Such as it tends to be in the talent pool, and in life: there are few exceptional individuals, for a variety of reasons, and in a market of finite resources and budgets the difference they can make sees people clambouring over the top of each other for their services.Whitfield closer to a salary dump?
What the hell are you talking about? **** me.
Lobb and we're talking.
You think ?
Imagine Whitfield, Hopper and Kelly in the middle with Gibbs and Murphy alongside the Cunninghams, Seton et al...
Thats midfield fixed in one swoop !
Well I've got 1900 likes from nearly 1200 posts, AND zero rumours.
What does that make me?
They can, if the AFL approves it. If any dodgy deal has been between clubs so one gets better compo the AFL will be right onto it.All of this correct - so you agree with me.
Contracts can be renegotiated later.
They were given one last year.Brisbane were given one two years ago??
True, but our young brigade will be another year older. Guys like Cuningham, PolsonUntil 2 of them get injured - then our poor depth is exposed again.
He's 23 years old playing in a team full of good midfielders. Not all that surprising that he hasn't added to his game. He hasn't needed to.Consider the way the draft value index dives quickly from 1 to 10, then 10 to 20. Such as it tends to be in the talent pool, and in life: there are few exceptional individuals, for a variety of reasons, and in a market of finite resources and budgets the difference they can make sees people clambouring over the top of each other for their services.
As I've said before today, and since this post, Whitfield is not much chop as a #1 pick. I'd be surprised if he ever becomes an All-Australian, and he's not going to change games on his own. Uses the ball well, and doesn't **** up, but rarely breaks the game open, just finishes the team's work well and consistently (1 goal assist a game this season).
Watch him play, and you'll realise he plays like Gibbs, if Gibbs had never shown any contested ability. He was touted highly based on his running ability and ball use, and the hope that he would put size on his frame and win more inside ball. He never did.
If it was a straight trade and I could use any pick in the draft, I'd use pick 20.He's 23 years old playing in a team full of good midfielders. Not all that surprising that he hasn't added to his game. He hasn't needed to.
If Carlton got him in that trade there's plenty of room for him to improve and it's miles from being a salary dump.
He's not a 29 year old at his peak.
Old timers had to quote each other to show appreciation. Took more effort than clicking a like button.
I don't understand this argument at all it's like saying midfielders are over rated because Gold Coast suck and have had the best midfielder this century. You can't compare one players output to 8 and come to a conclusion
I agree with you but it could be Adelaide this year. Also half of Hawthorn's forward line were elite in their position.
Maybe Gil needs an offer he cant refuseAFL won't give it to us though. They will use the fact we have 5 rising star nominations this year. They screwed us when Waite left and gave us nothing.
HSun reporting that if cas leaves, we'll get pick 18 in return. Pretty handy return albeit we'd be light up top if we can't lure redpath away. The article also indicates that cas has taken more marks, kicked more goals and won more HOs than Reid in the last 3 years. Puts the criticism into perspective although he cost us against the scum
easy fella...Had to walk three hours in the snow for a depth thread too, yeah? It's a crazy new world.
Mooney was AA that year and Hawkins was still one of the best KF. Just like Roughead and Franklin have been in Hawthorns teams.Their forwards were made to look better because of their midfield imo.
They didn't have the elite key forward that blues90 was talking about. They actually lost him after 2013 and still won 2 in a row.
Also look at the Cats can't tell me Moonee and Hawkins were elite key forwards. Still 3 flags.
Crows could get it this year but I doubt it and it would be an anomoly. They haven't impressed at the MCG and that's where you need to get the job done.
