Carlton offer Levi 1.2 million over 3 years and Levi knocked it back. Carlton (rightfully) won't offer any more.

the average player is on $379k next year (or similar) including the 20 or so who dont play seniors regularly. not sure $400k is an overly generous offer. clubs concern would be length of contract. ideally we would offer $500k for 2. hopefully by then he is superseded. clearly levi will be looking for a longer term as this is his last big pay day. if we tabled that offer and he received a better offer elsewhere we would be in a position to gain the compensation that we require.
Could offer him the $1.2 over three years but structure it to benefit both parties. Why the **** would we offer him $500K when he's not worth $379K per annum already ?? If he was offered a three deal by the club he should be signing it in a damn hurry IMO.
First two years at $500k and the third at $200k. This way we pay him what he is worth for the two years he will probably be needed in the seniors or as back up. The third year we can release him from his contract if others have gone past him as expected and he can take his chances on a two year contract at another club or he plays for the lower amount in the VFL.
