Uh ?

Last time Jones went forward it came within a bee's d**k of it costing him his career !

If Jones is ever played forward again..we are going backwards !

Not sure about that Cutz. Earlier this year when he really started playing great football his best game in the VFL IMO was a ruck/forward. He was unbelievable all around the ground. I'm not saying do it or he should play there but it is an option if Casboult leaves as we have heaps of defensive options

There's no harm to the fabric or culture of our club, as
professional sportsmen are aware elite talent will attracted huge money in any sport world wide.
You are either suited have the passion and very gifted or simply not.
We need to attract elite talent as we move along. Either the vey best or as close as we can get.
Go Baggers

Question is if Kelly is elite talent because 1.2 mill is most definitely elite money and I'd hate to be paying that if he is only close to it.

Big chance that Charlie and SPS will be as well and Cripps is already there I think. How much are we able to pay for 4 players?

For the future of our club i think its best Bryce does want to leave again. Surely the pull of home and a premiership will be enticing rather than the bottom 4 again next year.

Adelaide will be in a better position with picks with the increasing livelihood of McGovern, Lever and Cameron leaving. Plus this will surely put a small hole in their 2018 team. They would want to bring in at least one high profile player.

If we could get the Lever pick from them (if he goes to collingwood (pick 6)) lets call it a day.

Go to the draft with picks 1 and 6 to draft goal kicking mids. Release Cas hopefully for pick 18 and send that to gws for Hopper. Then pick up balic with a late pick.

We most likely will have another tough year next year and end up with another top 3 pick. We will also bring in BSOS. We should go after FA Tom Lynch. And come 2019 we could jump a long way from bottom to finals.

Its all about getting a core of kids and growing them. 1 extra year of development and not breaking the bank ie draft picks, should be our focus at this stage.

Side note: Im also happy Boek is in the team. Another guy i think many of us gave up on. Now it looks like he's part of a bright future.

Where did 1.2 million come from? I think a previous poster just pulled that figure out from no where...no actual rumour has said we are offering that much in fact last I remember hearing was around $850-900k.

Does anyone think that al this media talk about us playing "boring" football, "going nowhere", having a "poor" list, and on track to win our 5th wooden spoon in the last 12 years may influence the AFL, to consider offering a PP if we requested one. I believe Gillon McLachlan has publicly stated he is concerned about the perennial lower sides needing help to get back inti finals calculations. Just hoping, but I won't hold my breath.

Interesting comments from Neil Craig about winning the spoon:

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2017-08-15/craig-bullish-on-blues

“It’s not a concern. If it was a concern, there’d be some decisions that would have been made, that haven’t been made if you’re decision was not to win the wooden spoon,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“I’d prefer to look at it the other way - what are our best decisions to win the premiership? You go down two different paths there. I’m more concerned about the decisions you have to make to become a consistently high performance football club. And they are different if you decide you don’t want to win a wooden spoon.”

To put it in Homer Simpson speak: "We're not NOT trying to win the spoon."

Good question, however, if we were to be granted a priority pick because of all the "facts" these "journo's" are bringing up, these same "journo's"will be the first to jump up and down if we were granted a PP.

Really cant see handing us a PP at the end of the 1st round braking the bank so its not completely out of the realms of possibilty.

We've essentially had to build the list from scratch (minus Cripps Doc and Byrne) with zero league concessions and only existing senior players to trade for currency, all while financially subsidising teams above us on the ladder and consistently going into games with less days' rest than the opposition in the back half of the season. We're about to win our fifth spoon in 15 years. The club should definitely ask for, and be granted, an end of first round priority pick.

Thoughts?

Would like to see if Charlie and Patrick Cripps can become interchangeable. When Cripps needs a rest from the midfield he goes forward and swaps with Charlie. Different styles but both should be able to swing between the middle and a medium-to-tall forward position.

Taylor said he was struggling to see where the development will come from.

Not only does BT have a big mouth but he's blind. Holy shit.

I'd be happy with $1mil. It's really just $800,000 in the old cap
I'm going to be pedantic here: 80% of a future figure is not the same as 120% of a current figure.

120% of 800k is 960k, while the 1 million equivalent in 2016 is $833k (1m/1.2).

Not important in this context, but I don't want you to dramatically **** up your financials in the future.

There are usually different settings...just press the button a few times. Some can be quite good. Makes sure you have fresh /charged batteries though.

My thought is many "experts" are raving about how Chris Scott/Harry Taylor out coached Rance at the weekend by kicking 4 goals and holding Rance to 15 possessions.

Anyone remember R1 this year?

Rance 9 possessions, Weitering 3 goals.

More "experts" should have been paying attention.

Weits can definitely go forward.
Believe it or not but Dermott actually mentioned Weitering doing that on Sen yesterday.

those turkeys on Talking Footy last night obviously didn't watch Saturdays game...we played fast exciting through the middle footy..even Bolts said in his presser more confidence and experience in the game plan and each other is gradually allowing them to do that...thanks to Timmy for backing us up....still think most in the media don't understand where we've come from in the last two years...didn't know Mclure is a blues supporter not that it changes my opinion of him....

Pass.
Above the shoulders is a real concern with him.
Depends on the cost for me. He's proven he can do it. Imagine he and Cripps on the inside, shovelling it out to Murph/Cuningham/Boeky etc.

But only for the right price. Certainly wouldn't overpay for him.

As much as I want Weitering to stay back, I feel he's going to be a permanent forward next season. He should get bigger and stronger over the pre-season and he and McKay will be the big forwards for 2018.

Jones, Macreadie, Marchbank and Plowman to form a mostly mobile and intercept defence.

We get 4 more midfielders and some pace from the backline, we'll be seeing a much more attacking team next year. Boltons been smart by not letting us get belted week in week out and playing this game style.

He calls the footy doesn't make him an expert. In fact he's not.
